Let's just say that my teacher did an incredible job back then to just listen to both parts by ear on my tape player/walkman, then he would transcribe my parts on guitar paper bits at a time so I could keep practicing section by section each week till I got it down. For me, it was good to learn a song I could play slowly and perfect each part.Wow that's really shootin high!!
You took lessons. I never did and have paid for that. Learned bad habits. Didn’t learn the more correct way to play. I still enjoy the guitar…. But with lessons and a teacher to hold me accountable. I’d be way better than I am.Let's just say that my teacher did an incredible job back then to just listen to both parts by ear on my tape player/walkman, then he would transcribe my parts on guitar paper bits at a time so I could keep practicing section by section each week till I got it down. Thanks for joining in the discussion, everyone.
I messed up,The actual first piece of music was probably when I was in the school orchestra playing violin. It was either Handel's "Water Music" or maybe a Beethoven piece. It wouldn't have been anything from the Ninth Symphony because the conductor would have saved that for near the end of the show. We'd always close with something like "Ode to Joy" or something as equally bombastic.
If you mean guitar, the that's a version of "My Generation" by the Who. I was jamming with some guys at a 4th of July Biker Party when I was 16, and they yelled chords at me, and the guy singing changed all the words to be "My Boozeration." "People try to put us down, just because we like to suck them down." "Got to drink that beer while it's still cold, yeah it's my boozeration!" Good times.
Same here. I want to but can't seem to get there. You took lessons. I never did and have paid for that. Learned bad habits. Didn’t learn the more correct way to play. I still enjoy the guitar…. But with lessons and a teacher to hold me accountable. I’d be way better than I am.
Good riff , for sure.First song I played in front of people was the bass line to Peace Sells by Megadeth. I remember it vividly because I was so nervous I thought I was going to puke. We played to a packed house of about 20 or 30 people at a bar called Jimmy Ds. My nerves calmed after I noticed mostly everyone there were too drunk to give a crap.
Nuthin wrong with that. Add a little SWLABR and Tales of Brave Ulysses and you got quite a mini gig there.Sunshine Of Your Love. That certainly dates me.
I'd definitely have trouble singing like that AND playing. My first concert was all originals.
I remember looking at my fingers and wondering how they were working at all, they felt like big fat bratwursts!
At my second show we played a couple of covers.
Here's the one I remember the most
Singing while playing was difficult, but sooooo fun!
Could be worse.Sunshine Of Your Love. That certainly dates me.
