What is Going on with the Price of Bass Strings?

Depends on the type…what kind? Stainless flats? Round wound? Tape wound? Prices vary wildly depending upon string type/material.
Of course, it’s been a while since I’ve had to shop for them…I try to stay stocked up.
For me, round wound get changed the most often, while tapes and flats last longest.

I just did a search and I guess it is flat wounds but I don’t care if they are gold, not worth $45.
Yeah…that’s been “the going rate” for the La Bella types for a long time…I like their “low tension” flats. Very comfortable and thump well. I do like their “white tapewound” the most for a bit of both worlds feel and sound.
I hope you don’t quit…maybe try the Fenders, or Ernie Balls? Either way, flats seem to have a much longer lifespan than roundwound.(maybe explaining the price difference) Tapewound…they’ve been long lasting for me, so far.
Those are my go to for roundwound. I have them on my TL-Six.

Well, it’s an exaggeration. Not quitting but the prices are up.
I did have a fender set in my cart until I checked Stringjoy.
Yeah…I just checked…my last order of La Bella white tapewound strings was about $8 less in 2020…in comparison to today’s going rate. Knowing me, I probably found a “sale price” at the time, because I feel like the going rate then was about $45. Compared to $50 for the same product, now.
I, certainly, do not “need” to buy them too often…once I find what I like for a bass.But dont ya just got to buy Bass strings once ??? See ya save money
I find it funny that you can finance STRINGs for 6 months.

Yep…my 2020 prices were really just pre-Covid prices. I ordered a few sets in early February 2020….and the difference is around 12%…better than some other things that I buy more often have fared.
I’ve got 3 bass guitars and as little as I play I won’t have to change strings in my lifetime. :dood:

That’s right. I feel the same about guitar strings. I’m a flat wound believer. And I don’t play jazz. Buy once , cry once. Thomastik baby. Let the tone knobs do their part.
