Announcing... RiffMasters!

@Oldiemurphy Your music for "Black Lake" might have also worked rather well for the Chapter 6 side hustle too
This version has my music submission all over it, but it was the same idea as the tranquility base challenge

Very nice, TVvoodoo! That guitar that comes in around the 2:30 mark is really cool and reminds me a bit of Bad Company.

I posted this in another TTR thread, but I'm including it here as well. It's not part of the RiffMasters Challenge but I was messing around with an idea at the same time that the Cheeze Tricks challenge happened. And that kind of steered me toward adding some stuff to this "song." At any rate, constructive criticism is always appreciated and I always enjoy the RiffMasters feedback. It's always interesting when you get a mix that sounds okay through monitors, and then the sound inevitably changes with subsequent downloads, uploads, etc, etc.

That was great man. I love that style of playing. Great tones too.

This thread sort of runs congruent with this one for people to share ideas and spinoffs of this thread.

close your eyes
imagine yourself floating
weightless
down a cool stream on a warm summers eve
the sun is setting
the breeze is sweet

listen to the inverted arpeggios
playfully dancing back and forth

the plucked tremolo notes
like a current
moving in one direction
yet changing at a moments notice

feel the synth swells
in and out like the tides
a steady reminder that time marches on

time

a thing that does not change with time
is a memory of younger days
time passes, people move
like a river's flow
it never ends

and then you hear your wife calling

and calling

and calling

yell to yourself

Serenity Now! Serenity Now!!

@Aynirar27 brings us "Serenity Now" aptly describing it better than I could. A total zoner-outer, drenched in shimmery 'verb featuring big tremolo in a standout single note melody. Like massive dew drops in slow motion, falling into glassy calm waters, causing ripples of relax to emanate outward. Definitely timely and appreciated due to recent financial market happenings.

I haven't started my own yet, but this was very much along the lines of where I was gonna go... maybe I have to rethink now.

@Oldiemurphy "Cyclone Ricochet" was super cool! You're newer to Riffmasters and folks steered you wisely to the alternate thread. For game organizational purposes it's best to keep this thread tidy and feature official entries only... but you might want to hang onto that track, just sayin!

ROUND 8 Main Event Entry -
"Can't Get You Out of My Head"

This is my Round 8 Main Event "Metalmorphosis" submission, which proves that when it comes to metal, I'm probably
more a light, weaker alloy, like maybe tin or something. Definitely can't seem to muster up the super heavy or anything.
The video was "borrowed" from one of those AI things on youtube, kind of fit with the my take on the song.

"Can't Get You Out of My Head" was recorded by Australian songtress Kylie Minogue for her eighth studio album, Fever (2001).
Parlophone Records released the song as the album's lead single on 8 September 2001. "Can't Get You Out of My Head"
was written and produced by Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis. The song's composition is "deceptively simple, but its veins run
with the whole history of electronic music".[20] It has been labelled a neo-disco track, a dance-pop song, a techno-pop anthem
as well as a "timeless new wave disco hit." The track hit number #1 on music charts in 40 countries worldwide.

The lyrics focus on an unhealthy, potentially destructive obsession with a love interest. Music critics praised the song's production
as well as Minogue's vocals. Minogue's hooky chants in the "la la la" hook are often noted as the song's most appealing part
by music critics (which I promptly decided to adapt into something else LOL!). To me the track has always been a "Dark madness
hiding in plain sight," sort of thing, undercover of an intensely super hooky pop/disco song. So, I stripped all that fun stuff away
to lean into the psycho part of it. Surprised myself even, by going even a bit deeper and darker than I ever expected :ohno:

Used my skull yamastrat with the p-90, all 4 guitars tracks, except the short scale fuzzy bass.
Two rhythm left/right, one lead and a little extra chug, and one of harmonics and whammy whatnots. No keys.
Added some rattling chain SFX because it seemed to fit. Added the lyrics to the vid because I'm not
much a singer and couldn't get the clarity and definition the song deserved in that "tone" but gave it a go anyway.

If I'm not currently on the radar of the local authorities, probably will be soon!

Cool version! Kind of reminds me of the first time I heard MM's version of Sweet Dreams. Just in that sense of a big contrast yet still recognizable for that big hook. But this stands on its own for sure.

Only Two and one-half weeks remain for round 8 RiffMasters!

At least one “METALMORPHOSIS” Round 8 Main Event submission (post 4681 ) is due in this RiffMasters thread Weds. August 28, 7PM.

if you don't get one in, you WILL NOT be eligible for the Round 8 Main Event Community Vote.

Try the "TRANQUILITY BASE" Side Hustle for an easy 3, possibly 1 or 2 more! (Post 4789). Due August 27, 7pm. Trank goes to community vote for bonus points.
And don't forget to take a stab at the "Trick Bag" Guitar Duel for a guaranteed one, up to six points (post 4725) it's due august 30 7pm

ALL RiffMasters challenges are open to any TTR member, no matter how extremely over-talented you claim you are, just check the rules in the original
game post, then drop your submission in this thread. Remember, when virtual fruit is thrown your way, it WILL NOT STAIN YOUR CLOTHES and may
be returned! The only fail possible is NOT taking part in this fun and creative musical safe space!

Before Round 8 is complete you can earn all kinds of points just for trying! But once again, it's not really about points! It's about creatin', participatin' and sharin' with fun forum friends, and maybe even poking 'em with a pointy stick too if you want, (not too hard, let's stay friends).

Y'know, I'm still pretty new to the Riffmasters thread and I wasn't even that aware of the original game post for round 8. But I went back and perused it and now I have an even greater appreciation for Oohh Ahh Ahh (and other Metalmorphosis entries). Y'all are doing some creative stuff.

@Ku² @LiveeviL2000 @Aynirar27 @Randy Van Malmsteen

You are all fighting very bravely, but I am now in process of securing the Penthouse to become an impenetrable fortress! Continue to fight at your own peril!

Not to take away from your pro trash talk, but I’m pretty happy where I’m at considering I didn’t really get rolling until like round 5.

I’m working hard to make a rap song metal without sounding like Nu Metal, so hopefully you all like death metal lol. Things are gonna get Br00tal

@Aynirar27 I’m going a little more ambitious than you are.
With the little free time I have currently. I am going full disco and rewrote the lyrics. There are many questions.
Will I get it done in time?
Will it be any good?
WHY FULL DISCO!?!? Everyone knows you don’t go full disco!
The song I picked is going to be really challenging to convert. So many synthesizers!! Listening to it over and over …
