Announcing... RiffMasters!

RiffMasters Main Event #7: Spy Game
• Participation: 5 points
I added 4 sound effects: handgun, whooshes, explosion, and computer noise: 2 points
Edited and uploaded by me: 2 points
Result is very orchestral and dense, but there is some electric guitar in there (Fender Squire into my line 6 POD PRO with Treadplate patch).
I was recording it in half-time at 130bmp just the get the notes & chords right - ended up keeping it that tempo scaling. So it's sounds more stately and foreboding than frenetic & urgent.

I enjoyed listening to this. It sounds like you have done film scores or you are just adept to all things music. lol

ok boys and girls, it's way passed my bedtime, but I was moving and grooving with my MODERN SPY THEME submission. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of this one. I hope you guys like it too. I think it's worth a listen on headphones if possible.
Looking forward to the vintage one as well, maybe I'll even play some guitar on that one....

Thank you @WavMixer for the fireworks, as I present to you Agent 27

I had to go back and listen again, I really like the horn section and the accents. Does your keyboard have an arpeggiator ? Keys sound great.

May I speak for all RiffMasters in demanding

Here's my RiffMaster Round 7 "Spy Game" entry #1
titled "Cloak and Dagger"

Opted for the more trad sound/style, clean guitar, tremolo, but also added synth string stabs, and
modern gain which picks up as you get halfway through. Particularly like the tribal drums, (MT drums) and the driving bass I laid down. Had no idea what I was going to do with the guitar, I just laid down the bass first, then plopped on the guitar, one take each track, there's bloopers, but I moved on.

Hardly spent any time mixing, mastering... just flopped it out to render pretty dang fast. It feels
to me more "immediate" and edgy maybe partly because of that? I'm diggin' how it builds in intensity.

For sound effects, various zaps, electronic ambience, stuff I have pack-ratted off discs and discs of SFX from back in my TV days.
If you may notice, deeper into the video upload (about 4 min.) you'll find a bonus plethura of these types of sound effects if you may
happen to be looking for one or two for yourself.

I actually rendered the video track with a bunch of unused ones still sitting there after my video (audio only) by mistake LOL!
Lots of fun stuff there, though it's pretty old-school sound design stuff, like from the 80's but still handy to have. Quite useful.

I have tons of it here, more than I'll ever be able to use. Problem is I don't have the proper catalog to find what I'm looking for too easy. Major time suck searching through it all . When I worked in TV commercials we'd all have our favorite stingers, whooshes and zaps cataloged in our personal production binder, but I lost mine somewhere along the road. Like four pages of the best stuff, all written down, easy to get to. Every time we'd fly in some "SALE ENDS FRIDAY!" text or whatever, we'd drop in an exciting audio "whoosh!" You've heard it thousands of times. We're all kind of numb to these now, but when they are NOT there you might notice.

Anyway, this was the most fun challenge for me so far, I couldn't wait for this one.
I'm looking forward to doing the other version if I can squeeze out the time.

Your video soundscape having those little clips in at the end. Very nice.

Thanks man. The keyboard is a little M Audio controller that I found in the e waste at work lol. It was still in the box so I took a shot and aside from a couple inconsistent keys, it works just fine.
I originally brought it home for my girls to bang on and make noise, but after doing the spy theme I might actually make an effort to become proficient on one.
Any of the non orchestral synth stuff were patches from a Plugin called Triple Cheese. I chose some patches that had some cool movement to them and just adjusted them to fit the tempo of the song. After that it was just playing small variations of the same melody

Worked for a couple hours on my Modern Spy theme last night. Wasn't really feeling it. Timing off bcz didnt get the drums right, and that affected everything else negatively no matter how I tried to compensate ... a good lesson for me.
Not really worth taking time to lay sound effects on. Might just plop it in the alternates thread and start fresh.

Im struggling with my vintage theme. I thought I had something cool and after working on it last night I noticed it sounded way to close to another song, and also not as good as the other song lol, so I trashed it. I still have some time so I’m just gonna wait until inspiration strikes
