Fireworks thread

I have always liked fireworks, and I am much much safer with a little maturity.
If you live in Washington state there are 2 tiers of fireworks
There are legal ones that are pretty tame, but support many local causes.
Any Washington resident will tell you to go to the reservation if you want cool fireworks.
They can openly sell more potent fireworks as long as they are on the Res.
I have been working at the casino for a few years and I like to support my local tribe
I just picked up a smallish box for 100 bucks.
The town I live in has a tradition of people going nuts with the fireworks, but it's still pretty quiet now

Respectfully, I disagree strongly with this.

We really need to be careful about getting carried away with the 'ban' train...

While our ideals may be good-natured and well-intentioned...'banning' things only ever creates a thriving market for such things. We've known this since the prohibition days....

There's gotta be another way. We need to find another way.

Respectfully I disagree.
Having had 3 dogs that are terrified of fireworks really changed my mind about fireworks. Not to mention all tha wildlife that also gets terrified, plus I really don’t want to feel like my neighborhood is a war zone.
Get a laser show.
See I do like the silent fireworks on this website, as well as my hat.
Must have been 40 years since I went to fireworks, I don’t care for them so why must I suffer through them ?

Had more interest as a kid but potential for fast wicks always scared me. I hear them in the distance at times and it doesn't really bother me. Why people would waste their time at a fireworks show has always been beyond me.
 
Fireworks in the US is a tradition going back to the days of "The Rockets Red Glare, The Bombs Bursting In Air". In recent years, we've gotten this new complaint department coming in from pet owners and some from veterans. While I certainly empathize with the veteran's standpoint and would respect their wishes to NOT discharge a firework nearby one's home, I currently don't have any living in proximity to me so its not an issue. As for pet owners? Very simple: enjoy you animals and love them unconditionally. But if your pet is skittish, that's up to you to calm them down which can be simply done by going to your local vet and have them prescribe your animal an anti-anxiety or, just simply puy your animal up for the evening as its one night.

If fireworks are decreed legal in an area and you are safely discharging them? Bombs away!

I get what you're saying. I don't disagree. Don't want to see fireworks go away..... but it's never just one evening. The amateur shows start at least a week before the 4th and continue at least a week after the 4th around here. Many of the local communities don't all do them on the 4th. Town we live in did them last Saturday. Some did them last Sunday. Of course there's tonight. And there will be more this Saturday and Sunday. And when one lives in suburbia.... you can hear them all since we have several towns around us 5-10 miles away and we hear them all.

So for us, it's a week to 10+ days of every night there's someone shooting off fireworks. Add in..... the amateur shows in Illinois are not even legal and haven't been since 1942. And to my knowledge, there's zero law enforcement on it.

Yeah the 2 weeks before, every evening crap is ridiculous. Here, we have laws against it and they'll fine you $100 the first time and can arrest you afterwards for public disturbance. We can only light them between 8-10 on Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and 10-12 Midnight on New Year's Eve. They'll sell them in some stores all year long but you better not discharge them outside of those days and hours if within city limits. Outside of there? Fair game I guess

Fireworks are banned where I live. Too much danger of wildfire. As a result, I think I heard a few distant booms last night, but nothing like the nerve-shattering, dog-terrorizing Beirut-style cannonade we used to hear in Fort Wayne, where fireworks are legal. So, yeah, a few knuckleheads will risk the massive fine, but most don’t. I enjoy the peace of my home, and don’t appreciate overgrown kids blowing sh*t up in my proximity. I used to dread summer, as the noise began weeks before the Fourth and for days after. Banning fireworks as a matter of public safety works.

As I said. Not legal anytime of the year except for the professional shows. Doesn’t stop people. And not enforced.

In years gone by, Adrian actually told me about how putting a tight shirt on your dog can help calm anxiety from 4th celebrations. There's actually a product designed for this, but a snug t shirt works the same. We tried it once.
