@frostyjr2 cooly drops her Jazz Oddyssey submission and I'm afraid to say she's possibly already stolen the round 7 vote...but can she djent?
Even so, there will be 2nd and third places and five points automatic for all who venture into jazz land.

If I may, I'm titling her cut "Sunshower" as I can feel the joy and surprise as we are peppered with all manner upbeat phrasings, sorry... none of which I am hip enough to identify.

But that was super listen and I when I planned the game I had no idea someone like you would be dropping in to put on a clinic. Thank you!

Main rule of this duel is... a MINIMUM of lead note playing. It's strictly rhythm, you don't wanna make it cry or sing.
Keep it clean, keep it tight, but you got all kinds of room to do what you do, with bucketloads of sixteenth note barrages.

Bootsy and his band have laid down a super boss groove for y'all and demands you send it all the way Downtown Craytown express,
throw that hand like your life depends on it, and make is funky enough to call in all the skanky freaks with your fresh new riddims.

Minimum 1:00 of funk frenzy, doesn't matter who fires first by posting in this thread. The other must reply within ten days, then it
will go to a community vote. As you can see... there are 14 pts. available for the winner, and seven for the un-winner, just for playing.
And, as per usual, ANYONE in the game can try this anytime during this round, but it's only worth ONE extra point for the rest of us.

Hmmm, what about ANONYMOUS VOTING? You won't know who did what until AFTER the vote.

I just pulled 14min of Jazz backing tracks off YouTube onto my recorder, and 5min of the same funk loop without structure. I REALLY feel like whipping out the Whammy Pedal and giving that one some key changes. Is it really worth it for 1pt?

Well Cats and Kitties, this is sure to be one of those for me.... and I'm guessing many other so-called RiffMasters. But can we honestly call ourselves any
kind of RiffMaster, if we can't even fake something semi-passable over a lousy minute of the most common Jazz progression? I think NOT!

Here's your backing track, with a helpfully discouraging prelude, and a very typical Jazz progression. But I don't care if you use any other similar.


Have no clue how to get started? Have a look at the author notes in the above Youtube post.
Every key is in this video, if you seek it out. I really don't think that's gonna matter for most of us.

The goal here is to simply play some somewhat listenable guitar with this for a minimum of 1:00 solo lines, and/or chord comping, doesn't matter.
Again, this is all about stretching our personal boundaries, not at all about virtuosity. IT WILL NOT BE JUDGED, at least openly LOL!

Your “Jazz Oddyssey” post is due before the end of the Round 7 Main Event vote.
Thankfully there will be no judgement. Only FIVE automatic points if you manage to lay something down.
As we've all seen so far, I expect some really nice surprises, and open minds musically.

No RiffMasters Main Event Challenge is mandatory. Anyone can drop in at any time, and you should!
Once again the goal is to have fun, challenge yourself, use the gear and share your journey with us all.

Can we just compose our own typical jazz progression?
 
ok boys and girls, it's way passed my bedtime, but I was moving and grooving with my MODERN SPY THEME submission. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of this one. I hope you guys like it too. I think it's worth a listen on headphones if possible.
Looking forward to the vintage one as well, maybe I'll even play some guitar on that one....
