Shout Out For Psychedelic Rock

As Smitty said, it's a dying form. Tame Impala we're doing a good job resurrecting it, but now they've shifted direction to more electronic music.
I'm trying to keep it alive, but it's like fighting a losing battle.

It’s an almost uncategorizable art form. Listening to a good psychedelic rock song will simultaneously make you want to sway, bob your head, or sit perfectly still.

It’s interesting that you’d post a video of The Doors. I’m probably overthinking things, but, to me, the Gibson SG is the near-perfect aesthetic for psychedelic rock.

Don’t despair, my friend from Down Under. It’s not a battle to be won or lost. As long as you can still appreciate it and feel it, it’s still alive.
 
I'm keeping it alive, like solo life support. I don't know many fellow psychedelia fans, but you, my friend, are on the list!

Totally, totally cool, yet hot, at the same time.

I should issue a travel advisory: Do not listen to psychedelic rock and drive at the same time. You will simultaneously want to close your eyes and push your foot to the floor!

Seriously though, yes, The Doors captured that sound and vibe.

If you recall, I modified my G400 to the same specs as a vintage SG. Orange drop caps, decent PAF replicas... The perfect guitar for psychedelia.
 
I'm doing OK. Medically retired, but keeping busy. Also now the carer for Liam, so taking him to psychologist appointments, out to see friends etc. It's never dull. Plus doing as many chores around the house as I can.

I’ll tell you, though, if someone were to ask me how to create a good psychedelic rock song, I couldn’t tell that person how to do it!

That’s just one of the things that makes it so compelling and, yet, hard to replicate. It almost defies definition.

Another great. I have a few compilation CD’s I made using this one as a last song. Even used this as a profile photo on ETSG and FB. Not sure I’ve used it in TTR.

Not sure I can think of how either. What I can say is…. It’s music that can transport you mentally and emotionally into the land of psychedelics without the help of elicit chemicals.

Wouldn’t know. Yes. I was a child of the 70s. Group of idiot guys I ran with did a lot of crazy things. Before we were old enough to legally purchase alcohol…. Did our share of it. None of us ever crossed that line to the “special” stuff. Only one of us ever smoked cigarettes. My best friend since middle school, a year younger than me…. To this day has never even done booze. We were boring lot I suppose???
 
Any modern bands carrying the torch for this Genre? The last band I found that sounds anything like this is an old 90's band "Lid." Got their CD from a radio DJ back then to check out.
