Hey all, I was perusing a local record store, and in the second hand section I found one of my favourite albums, an original from 1971... LA Woman by The Doors!
It sounds soooo good! Much warmer sound than digital... And definitely better than cassette.

I have that one. Difference being. I bought it when it was fresh out. Have I mentioned….. I’m old. :pound-hand:
 
god I remember the "discussions" about whose cartridge offered the greater dynamic separation...
I'm not sure there are many of us left that have any idea what a cartridge is...

We've a copy of that pressing here too, though the liner notes are in Japanese (spouse brought her's over)

Any yes, I prefer old analog recordings too. But I don't call it "warmer," I call it human.
It maintains the ebb and flow of heart and soul on the human scale.

I also liked that album covers were 12." Seeing my wotk reduced to 4" was just depressing.
 
I like vinyl. I have a couple hundred LP's I need to get a decent Stereo with a turntable. I have an original, sealed LP of Neil Diamond's Gold, Live at the Troubadour. I am saving it until I get a good turntable. Then I will open it and play it. It's only valuable to me, so why not?

100%. I don't get these people who buy an album, then never open it or play it, and hope that it appreciates in value. Just play the dang thing and enjoy it!

Yeah, I really like Neil Diamond. I have since I was a kid. That record I got in a used record store, still sealed for $2.50. I really like Carol Hunter's guitar work on that record. She plays an electric 12 string on most of the songs.

She died a few years ago. I promised myself that I wouldn't open it until I retired and had a great turntable. I have several copies of that record. It's out of print, and I think the masters were destroyed in the Universal fire. It will be cool to listen to that slab for the first time.
