god I remember the "discussions" about whose cartridge offered the greater dynamic separation...
I'm not sure there are many of us left that have any idea what a cartridge is...

We do in this house. TEAC tn300 with Audio Technica VM95e, an updated version of the AT95e. Sounds great!

I believe that fortune smiled on me that day. Despite being nearly 50 years old, everything works like it's supposed to.



The MMC EN20 is, I think, a flawless example of our Danish cousins getting it right.

I used to have one of those huuuuge cabinets with a built in am radio and turntable. It was built in the early 60s, and was fine for playing records on. Even the speakers were decent. The radio ran on vacuum tube, and was meh.
Now I have an Audio Technica AT-LP60XBT that is really good. It's one of their "budget" turn tables, but it actually sounds decent. Plus I can use the Bluetooth function to play it through my portable JBL speaker.

This was identical to my old system... Was a bit janky, but actually sounded OK.
