I know what you mean.I honestly believe it has something to do with the swiss cheese weight relief they did on these things back then. My 2021 Tribute has modern weight relief and it just sings.
Try it.Would it be sacrilege to put a PCB harness in a LP Standard? Asking for a friend...![]()
I have this PCB harness I just got that came out of a 2018 Studio, I didn't expect it, it wasn't mentioned in the listing, but it has 2 push pull volume pots for coil splits. I just got these reverse zebra 61s with quick connects and I don't really want to cut them off. The BB 61s are literally made for splitting so I thought it might be cool. Plus I've done a lot of pickup swapping in my Standard and the pots are looking a little worse for wear. I'm expecting problems anytime now if I heat them up much more.Try it.
If it works foryouyour friend, no one needs to know...
I like the PCB's for how easy they make pup changes.I have this PCB harness I just got that came out of a 2018 Studio, I didn't expect it, it wasn't mentioned in the listing, but it has 2 push pull volume pots for coil splits. I thought I put the same nut on it that I took off, but it wasn't and I never questioned it because I was sure. The nut I put on it was cut slightly too low and I got them mixed up some how. So I put the right nut on it and it's much better. I've been tweaking the set up and pickups and it's starting to sound pretty good. I can definitely tell that the high fret was a big part of my problem with it. No telling how long it's been like that. I think it needs some brighter pickups, I might try something else.I had a Studio Tribute with the swiss weight relief once that I fought and I ended up putting a set of filtertrons in it and it sounded pretty good. I ended up selling it anyway, but I kind of wish it was still around as I do not have an actual Gibby LP now.Something else I found today.
