Didn't want to start a new thread... but wasn't able to find one already started. So with that in mind. Lets see where this goes.

A few years back we visited the Big Island. While in Hilo, we tried a local favorite... kinda a Hawaiian comfort food. Called Loco Moco. There's several ways to make one.... but the original and easiest is:
Plate a burger over rice. Pour brown gravy over the rice and burger. Add sunny side egg over the top. Eat.

The other night we had this for dinner. Fried up a couple strips of bacon in cast iron skillet. Pan fried the burger in same cast iron skillet in the bacon grease. Sauteed some onions in same cast iron. Added beef stock to onions. Thickened with corn starch. Ice cream scoop of rice on plate. Add burger. An obscene amount of gravy. Then a couple strips of bacon. Followed by the eggs. The blanched asparugus was an after thought. We had a little bit left in the fridge if we didn't use it..... so figured, what the heck.

The legend behind the Loco Moco goes something like this:
"This dish has many variations, but the original Loco Moco was reportedly created at a restaurant in the town of Hilo, on the island of Hawaii in 1949. The dish came in response to requests from a group of teenagers seeking a dish that was an inexpensive alternative to a sandwich, but was still quick and easy to serve."

Mostly dust, crumbling plaster, and filth in general.

And, one of the cats letting me know how disgusted she is with the situation. Tomorrow, we'll have the subfloor pulled up so it should not be so sticky from the glue on the backside of the linoleum tiles.

We’re making progress. All of the cabinets are in. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the last coats of Poly on the floor. Next week the counter people will come in to do the templates. The appliances will also get delivered. After the counters are installed we can mount the microwave and run ducting along with doing bead board, trim, crowns. It would be great to have construction done before I leave for Germany on the 24th. It’s a small and weirdly shaped kitchen, so we’re doing the best we can from a design perspective.

Looks like it’s coming along nicely! Digging the green with the hardwood floors! Good luck!

Thanks. The floors were finished today. I did a lot of painting over the holiday weekend. This weekend, I'll finish the painting. The templates for counters get done Monday. Appliances on the 14th. Not sure of the install date for counters, but after that it will just be some plumbing, wiriring, and all the trim and crown moldings.

Please tell me there's been progress in the last almost 2 years.

I have a dinky little kitchen with a tiny little (RV size) stove in my little apartment so I don't cook much. I inherited my mom's nice big crock pot when she sold the house and moved to Florida last summer, but I don't know what to cook in it so I haven't yet. I'm working on that.

Get your self a pot roast, red potatoes, carrots and onions throw it all in the crockpot with some beef stock and put it in that crock pot and cook it all day and enjoy. :celebrate:
