Congrats on the amp
The open back combo cabinet does lose a lot of bottom end, compared to a closed back.I've never had a combo I really liked the sound of.
I seem to settle on a head and two 1x12's or a 2x12.
Also never had a 4x12 cab - I'm sure I'd like the sound, but they always seemed too big for my space.
Hollywood decorations, green screens and of course fake everything. LolThe open back combo cabinet does lose a lot of bottom end, compared to a closed back.
But this is the trend; towards amplifiers that are smaller and lighter to transport.
In the old days, stage volume was dependent on big amplifiers and big cabinets...
The PA was primarily for vocals.
but now with newer PA systems, mic up the small amp, can be just as effective and even better...and saves your ears from being blasted out on stage.
The tendency is lower stage volume which is far more controlled; using the monitors for everything on the stage VS. lots of individual amps and speaker cabinets.
The big cabinets have become stage props, just for show, just for decorations.
