Announcing... RiffMasters!

@ibmorjamn this is not a locked thread. Post away! Tell us how your project is going. If you are proposing a locked thread for submissions only, I dont like that much for reasons already stated.

RiffMasters is all about musical and personal expression, within the boundaries of game-related chatter.

I mean, can you actually believe thatbastard wore his Beantown Bears jersey? No faster way to jinx your team than that move. very bad ju-ju
There are tons of threads including this one to converse. If you had a thread that only had the music submissions , wouldn't you think it would be easier to judge ? Or at least find them.
It's hard to find the music due to time lines. I just think something would be nice to simplify that process. I guess I will retire that idea.
See the above post #1,320 about submission. It's great other than that.

-M-

@TVvoodoo

A good solution is for us to tag the post when we know it's "on topic" and related to our music. Comments would not be tagged. I've tagged this one with the -M- in the corner. If one forgets to do this knowing it should be done it's at their own peril.

This would make things very easy for you since they would be quite minimal in reality. Lol.

How do you guys record with no internet ?
Yesterday all good today nothing. Little baby ice storm, nothing like Canada weather. Our infrastructures must be made of paper mache.

Everything on my DAWs is wanting to connect to the mom. Plugins need their mommies.
I can play an amp but that's it.
My dedicated music computer is NOT connected to internet on purpose. No unwanted updates or anything getting at it. My plug ins are loaded into Reaper

One plus you have is you can capture better if no plug ins on the actual playing. Get that tone you created in the room captured without aids, Then when you play live you have your sound forever set.

Re: musical post organizing.
The solutions presented thus far are interesting but it cannot make posting or finding music more difficult or complex for me or any others trying to find it. Its hard enough already! going to try your -M- tag search a bit later

@Sapient tried your method searched the -M- tag and the two marked posts (yours and mine) came up nice right at the top. However over 50 others below also, inexplicably. That tag not even a part three posts i looked at. leaves me to wonder how accurate this method might be long term.

@ibmorjamn I think part of the issue is it's a very active thread while the rest of the community can ba a little slow at times. Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. Everybody wants to be seen, contribute, join in in some way. But then, the more "important" posts like the actual music get buried rather quickly. At least commentary on the music submissions really encourages viewers to seek them, but off-topic BS does the submissions NO favours at all. It's just chaff.

Plus, post here one time and you're going to get notifications for a whole damn year, drawing more traffic in constantly. If we can just restrain ourselves even 25% of the time I think it would do this thread, the game, participants and spectators a huge favour.

All this organizational navel gazing is to insure I can accurately list all the selections and link to, or embed candidates for the upcoming poll vote thread(s).

As of this morning I count seven. If we get more than ten, there will be two vote threads. I'm now considering dividing them up by approach: Folk -> Rock <- Folk.

This may help you strategize which Folk'd Up song you will submit for voting if you submitted more than one. Or, which type to record, if you have not yet submitted.

I really don't play live so that doesn't make a difference to me.

Reaper has the plugins but for some unknown reason i-lock wants to phone home. Reaper is a trial version and it wants to phone home. Internet apps are ugly devices of need.

I don't play amps a lot for recording either. I was up at 2:00 am and I'm not going to fire up the tube amps.
It may sound funky but my latest song is not all tube amp.

The theory behind not using compression and other studio tricks is somewhat whimsical imho. Every single song you ever heard has been processed to death in the studio. Even the live recordings.
Rarely would a professional not use processing on their recordings studio or live as far as I know.
It's the bands problem to sound good live not the producers. Lol

NOT TUBE AMP TONE??? Is that even a thing?

Can I even listen to something I know won't have pure analog toooob tonez? Existential crisis imminent!
What sort of dark digital witchery is this? You sir, are a maverick outlier heretic! This gon' be gooooood!

Studio recording for reasons stated sound good sonically for sure. But I do really like “live” albums overall. Warts and all. And yes I know the live recording goes into the studio to be “fixed.” There’s only so much you can do. There are no multiple takes to choose from for the best one.

Ohhh ..you want to search. I see. I thought you wanted to sift through. Try /M/ or //M// \M\ or \\M\\ or something that currently brings back no results. That way you know going forward that you are good. Something unique yet practical should be easy to achieve.

Seems this is only limited to this thread? You can always sub filter this thread title or even plan a formula for what ultimately you want altogether.

I think for now, I will simply continue writing post numbers down here on my manual pen
and paper cheat cheat, I'm not smart enough for algoriddims or formulae

Besides, any solution may be rationale for continued junking up, and I don't like that idea at all.

Post clean, post clever, post relative. But post!

You have been for some time. You do know that there are others here amoung us. Like Evil Witches. Spell books and Caldrens.

You might actually be listening to Kempers or Axe - FX live at shows you payed several $ $ $ to see.

NOOOO!! DON'T YOU SAY THAT! Weak Solid State guitar tone is PURE ear-poison!
I may have paid MONEY FOR IT? Travesty. Unthinkable. INCONCEIVABLE!

Actually my ears are wiiiiide open. I've had it to the ground over the past couple days.

I hear mighty rumblings we may soon see the return of the Mighty @Ku² with a Folk'd Up submission.
Will he prove he is able to learn, and change over to the proven winning strategy by linking
to his own play-a-long video? Will he be backed by Dylan? The Byrds, or the curvy Mama Cass?

Can he even dare a play-a-long now, after all his bitter protestations? That would be something.
Who will be the first to heckle him if he dared do such a thing? Would we have to take a number?
