I ordered a MX212A cab to use with my SC20H and it arrived today. I bought the 112 version not long ago and I really like it so I got the 212. I've never had a cab with more than one speaker in it so I'm pretty happy with how much bigger it sounds!
As you may know, it comes with 2 Celestion 70/80 speakers. At first is was very dark and (IMO) lifeless, no top end, I had to dial the bass way down and turn up the treble and presence, but I got it sounding pretty good. It wasn't what I was expecting since my 112 wasn't like that with the 70/80 in it, in fact I almost left it in there, but I swapped it for a WGS Veteran 30 (my favorite "single" speaker). I'm thinking about putting it back since I just stole the Veteran 30 to try in my 212. Maybe it's because the 112 is ported in the baffle that it didn't sound as dark? I don't know, anyway...
So I swapped out the speakers and put in my Veteran 30 and an old ('82) G12T-75 I've been looking for a place for for years. Now it was completely opposite with these speakers, no bottom end and very thin and fizzy sounding, not good. So...I left the Veteran 30 in, but replaced the G12T-75 back to a 70/80. It's much better this way, but I'm still going to replace the other 70/80 soon. I contacted WGS to see what they suggest based on the type of stuff I play and they recommended the same thing they recommend on their website so I'm going to order a ET65 to pair with the Veteran soon.
Now I wonder if it makes a difference which speaker goes where, top and bottom.
And now...the required N"gear"D photo.
