Project 4 Eye

I knew this was gonna take the longest. By deleting the the smog pump & a/c causes all kinda readjustment. Was able to cut the factory bracket for alternator & smog in half & retain just for alt. Had to order ford racing a/c delete kit which moves power steering up & over. now have 73' belt which should work. If had to do again, just would of got older brackets & V belt. The tensioner is nice on the 5.0 set up though, only reason kept it

Later style belts are better . Imho

Pretty cool first start. Took me a bit but marked my Balancer at TDC for the build then 10 degree initial timing. Dropped distributor in at #1 at TDC but 10 degrees advanced. Just like it was set before taken apart. Poured a lil gas in carb. Hit starter it fired right up. Held idle right away. Broke it in for 20 minutes. What was cool was checking timing. It didn't need touched. Right on.Then did some runs under load from idle to about 5,000 rpm. very strong.
The idea was to port the heads for the 416/441 lift cam. With the new intake & exhaust was blown away how instantaneous the power ias far as i took it. No weak spot in powerband. Figuring 6250 rpm on this. Its faster than i thought. Going to tighten up a few things & then figure out how to capture the drives better. Sounds super crisp but now overly loud.
1983 Mustang GT, home ported heads, first run after rebuild

What?!?!?! What happened?????
It is running fantastic but i believe have to re do rear seal. My rebuild kit came with 3 types. My block is the last year of 2 piece seal.. But there is a lip & non lip one. I didn't think much of it but looking back. All i had to do was fill in better where the old school pin was used to pinch the leather type seal they used. I remember the pin coming out when i tore it down. Have a lil bit of weeping at the bellhouseing as it runs down the starter/backing plate. Now is the time before the appearance stuff gets worked on

Hard to believe pulling something running this good lol. This was this mornings run. Was taking exhaust down anyways because just got H-pipe hanger that sits on crossmember. The 1983 where 2 into 1 out the driver side. I have a radical cam & believe the porting work i did will support it, Change valve springs & we could have abother 50+ HP but kinda built it at the threshold of the T5 & 7.5 rear. I can tell any more or a serious hook of rear tires & it will be 8.8 & TKO time

Today was so fun , on back under the engine. Its back in on mounts & trans hooked, had to take exhaust off any ways & change the break in oil. Why not pull an engine..lol

Did stagger the seal as per Felpro directions. Even got a measuring device out to be correct.
