Help les paul folks

Is there any validity to tuning stability with locking due to not having winding slippage?
On my Stetsbar equipped Gibsons, I feel that there is an additional layer of stability with locking tuners. It is one less area of concern when strings go slack…and back.

As to the original query posed by @4406Pack … I have a few sets of locking tuners. They’re mostly on guitars that I had in heavy gigging rotation. The reasoning was fast, stable tuning, and string changes (and the above mentioned trem stability)
IIRC, I only have 5 guitars with locking tuners…about one third of my 6-string electric collection. Basically, if I think/know that I need new tuners, I’m happy to use locking tuners…if applicable. Two of my guitars that have them came to me with no tuners at all, for example.

None that I have noticed. I only wind about 1-1/2 wraps of the strings and never have any slippage issues. They stay put just as good as the lockers in my experience.

Good point. I don't rock no wang bars but I suspect they would be a bit more stable with locking tuners.

The nut is the main cause of tuning instability with the Wangerator, not the tuners.
Wholeheartedly agreed. It is important that the nut geometry is correct, and the tuners are a secondary concern at the headstock. I feel that the wound E, A, and D strings being wrapped two to three revolutions around a tuning post do present an opportunity for tuning anomalies when engaging the aforementioned “Wangerator”. ;) :victoire:

I am loving it
The neck feels good it is well hung put on my s locks an my well hung strap disperses the 9.4 lbs nicely! Again my favorite strap for heavy guitars
Pickups are pretty dam good
