Boss DD-3

Only reason I know who's it is, is I remember seeing it years ago on a post from himself. But Im all but sure it's Michael Schenkers rig
There was a different set up he ran , probably several. But the other was posted on a fan page . I think it was the same guy obcessed with the medallion "V's". He ran a Boss reverb also and at one point had Thomas wah I believe.

If someone snapped a pic of his rig during UFOs 70s era, probably would've just saw a Wah and two cables; one to a 50w Marshall and the other to his V lol

Incredibly simple set up but no one else could sound that way. I've heard he even had just a tiny 5inch speaker Pignose battery amp he used on rhythm tracks for Obsession

What I remember hearing from him at the Swing with Rush, and my brother James was there as well.
Was the Marshall with a load of bite, that I later learned was from the wha.. and I started using one, I didn’t need it much for my Strat, but my Explorer benefited from it the most.

He was the second person I learned from starting out, about how a Wah can actually reshape your entire sound by just leaving it engaged at certain positions. The first was Jimmy Page on the Heartbreaker Solo ( and I learned that from an instructional video I had when I was 12 lol). But Schenker used his so much better and it had this amazing in your face mid range sound. Real throaty and lots of bite.
And yeah, something in Explorers just sound deeper, so I could totally understand boosting it up

That was when they had Ron Nevison producing. Lots of articles about that.
I'm not running out to buy a pignose.lol

I'll pass. I stay planet far west of the Mighty Miss.
I know me and my bad luck, so I'll avoid trying to strike a deal in the middle of the night at the Crossroads. I'd go down there and make a deal to become a decent guitarist for a change, only to not only sign away my soul but probably sign away my property deed, vehicle titles and somehow give him my credit identity. In turn, id probably wind up getting guitar lessons from Lil Wayne

The German Wunderkind himself!
Funny you say wunderkind. I think that term was used in Pete Ways book.
He (Michael) left UFO at the worst time for the band as a whole.

They were on the verge of blowing the doors down in America. To bad he didn't get a little advice back then.
He might have leveraged them over a barrel. He just could not get along with Phil. It seems they all had issues.

There were lots of people using wah pedals. Not many just as a type of treble boost overdrive.
I still don't think it is necessary to use the wah to get his tone.
You have to realize, he was constantly changing stuff. Pickups, guitars, amps, pedals. I never saw him use a tube screamer but there it is.
If you pay close attention, imho there is no frickin way he is using a wah for his rhythm tone. You just need to listen. Maybe for the leads. Some songs are way obvious. Early stuff I hear wah and I have to wonder if that was Chapman because it is being used conventionally.

My playing will mostly remain the same, no Voodoo. Lol
Schenker really has the blues but it rocks!
1974 Atlanta live. Definitely relying on the wah for boost here.
That's exactly what I'm talking about: you can take a Gibson with PAFs into a 50w Marshall and only a Wah but I'll bet every dollar I ever made, few if any are gonna get that sound like he did! The dude has a style and sound all his own. Leslie West was another who followed a simple as hell plan and no one can match it

I would like to add a fuzz face after the wah please.

Ok after reading through couple questions for the delay experts
Why DD-3 over say a DD-5?6,7,8?
What are the main differences
Thanks
Up next is either a dd-5 modification or a dd-5 selling to be replaced by DD-3
Sell me on one way or other
