Off the path Guitar Tone

Also love the tone of Gary Richrath
Being an Illinois boy I sorta grew up with REO. They were playing local bars and such before I was old enough to go see them…. But songs were getting played on the local stations. Lost track how many times I’ve seen them in concert. And yes. I am/was a fan of Gary. Always felt the heart and soul of REO left with him when he and the band parted ways.

And nothing really against Dave Amato. But it’s a little like the Ace v Tommy question. I still like Ace best.

Absolutely! One Gary and One Ace: there will never be another of each and no one could ever take their places.

It's a professional job, so my guess is that each instrument and voice was individually recorded and the mix of each track was done later in a studio.

It was recorded live at Town and Country Club, London, England on November 11, 1992.

Gary talked about the performance in a few interviews stating "Aside from the usual mixing and mastering, what you heard in the club is what we put on the record."

This is a seriously phenomenal live sound.

Gary's volume levels are so astronomical that he has to sweep the volume off after every volley.

Interesting...cool.

Looks and sounds like Gary is using a pair of Fender Twin Reverb amps and a Colorsound Tone Bender

"On the live London sessions in 1992, i used a Soldano SLO-100 (serial #89258) on the clean channel with a Gov'ner pedal."

- Gary Moore (interview quote)

You can read several.interviews where he said the keyboard was running through a Twin Reverb, an ideal amp for this purpose.

My grandma would sound good plugged into an SLO. But yeah, that is some phenomenal tone.

This, to me, is even better tone. He's much more in control and its more dynamic.

I agree 100%, but i get bored easily and i can only "dig" this kind of thing for short periods of time, any longer and i need mouth to mouth resesitation from the tailpipe of a taxi cab.

I love that shite on the ragged edge of control when everything is running balls out and you can feel the percussive effect of the speakers against your back....
