Guitars and Amps Transmitting Radio, Two-Way and Cell Phone Signal Information Database:

I had an old console television years ago that would pick up CB radio conversations at night, past around 10:00 pm.

The atmospheric conditions affect that.

Did you know some radio frequencies travel and skip off the earth and atmosphere better at certain times of the day or night?

Good points...

While living in the S.E. side of Indianapolis, I always heard the country radio station through the amps, before I started using the jack ground ring and capacitor, which kills it dead.

Country music has a very pronounced effect on me, I either want to Fight or Frick, and I don't care which.

When I was at junior college, if I clicked my wah pedal on I could pick up a Mexican radio station.
With the wah off you couldn't hear it.

When I moved to university, (same gear) the problem wasn't there at all. We had always just assumed it was the wiring in the old block building.

But it was a pretty hilarious effect at the time.

I've never had an issue with a guitar beyond just picking up some hum, but I used to have an old-school Electric Mistress, the original one that had an ungrounded cord coming out of it instead of using a wall wart, and that thing would pick up all sorts of signals depending on where we were playing, and then make them hilarious by flanging them. Some gigs I couldn't even use it because it was going all "Spinal Tap at the Air Force Base" on me.

I have never had that problem so far..
