Guitars and Amps Transmitting Radio, Two-Way and Cell Phone Signal Information Database:

Fuhrman claimed EFI/RFI protection capabilities in this advertisement:

But I have higher levels of RFI here....

That’s because your issue is after the Furman.

Furman is a great product. They are a staple in the industry. I spec them out pretty frequently. Having said that, SurgEx is pretty much the leader in surge protection and conditioning. And, SuregEx is far more expensive than Furman. Even my dealer prices are pretty high.

But, any power supply or conditioner can only deal with what comes into it. What comes AFTER it is up for grabs.

Makes sense!!!!

Our area is ripe with RFI...

In all seriousness, do you think some people are conductors themselves?
Yes. Some people are better conductors than others. This is why some people can "divine" for water, minerals etc, while others can't. There is no skill or knowledge involved in divining. Whether one can do it or not simply depends on their body chemistry, so you may be on to something. Cheers

Which Guitar Center is that Robert? I am feeling the need to see this for myself now!

Rancho Cucamonga. It's not as bad as it used to be. Some changes were made to how the store was grounded - which helped - but at certain times, it's very pronounced.

I know an electrical contractor who has done work for us. His specialty is recording studios. He tells me the RFI thing is a big problem in this area especially. He did all the wiring at M.P.S. in Rancho Cucamonga.

He has described everything from coiling a special type of wire around ground rods, to aluminum sheet in the walls and lining the inside of switch boxes with copper tape...even running wiring through copper conduit to combat the phenomena.

I believe I've never had the exact type of interference that is described in this thread's topic. I don't remember coming across this type of interference when I still lived in the Los Angeles area up until 1986. And definitely not, since I moved to an area which has a population density just a miniscule fraction of Southern California.

Not in all seriousness... Maybe Robert is so tall, that his body acts like a big antenna or lightning rod... :alien:

The only time I did was when I lived in the DC area. I think the amount of RF there is 10X what's going on here in SoCal, what with the Pentagon, CIA, Defense Intelligence, FBI, NSA, etc all clustered into a small geographical area. What fixed it for me was working out a ground fault. Never had the problem since/in CA.

But I have known a few guys that were like antennas for the stuff. One guy I knew that was a bass player was some sort of superconductor from the underworld and he'd even blow up amps just by touching them.

I've only had radio come through my amp for one short period. It was my '89 JTM45 reissue with good cables, my SG or Les Paul, and some Boss pedals. Were practicing at a friend's place in the suburbs between Boston and Providence. We moved to a different place after getting a new drummer a bit later. Then I swapped tubes. Never heard radio out of my amp again. I think it was house related. It was a cheap McMansion, and I doubt it had very good wiring.

I am very pleased to be able to tell you that I have learned effective ways of eliminating the EFI/RFI problems in this area.
