NAD coming soon!

It's going to take me some time before I'm ready to give any review on it. It sounds good, but it has way less gain than I'm used to. All I know at this point is I will be swapping out the speaker, my Scumback sounds much better than the greenback that it came with. Maybe it's just not broken in, but my Scumback is and it sounds way better so it's getting swapped.
I will review it never played one. Sounds like a fairly cleaner, higher headroom Marshall good for pedals.

less is more! (gain-wise)

Perhaps a nice clean boost/treble booster/OD will get you there. That’s what I love about my 18watter, it has ok gain for rhythm, but boost it, or hit it with a Muff, and it’s off to the heavies….same token, cleans up really well with the guitar volume.
Do you play much/any clean tone? Does it clean up nicely?

edit: I suppose… with a handle like @DirtySteve

I’m going to try a few pedals. I have only played it about an hour so far so I’ll be trying lots of things, I haven’t had time to get to know it yet. I will say this, it has a really nice clean tone on the low input, I wasn’t expecting that.

I don’t know, but if I wanted a 12” speaker I would have bought the head. I said right in my post (that you quoted) that the reason I want the combo because it has a 10” speaker. I have a 112 cab that I plan to plug into along with the internal speaker when I’m at home, but when I go on a road trip like I often do or head down to Florida to see family I wanted a small combo i can easily bring along and this is perfect.
Sposed to sound better in that cab with a 10".

I push the front with a Clean set OD with level up high on OD. KIller.

Ok I'm starting to get her dialed in now. This amp has a ton of low end and the bass can be flubby, took me a while to dial in the eq, but now that I have it's starting to sound pretty good even with the unbroken in stock G10. I'm using a Bad Monkey in front as a boost and it's not bad. Better than the MojoMojo I just bought and tried first.

One thing about jcm800 maybe not so much gain but they absolutely kill in a mix..It kinda exposes the player but nothing beats it. At one time having a 45,plexi,dsl50 &100, VM2266, Got an 87 , all sitting in same room the 800 was stunning how it placed & also how with triple recto on other side how that mix was huge all on its own in Reaper no eq needed just stick a mic on the speaker

I'm thinking maybe an AB switch for the inputs might be beneficial.
It won’t be as simple as that. If both input jacks are plugged in at the same time, the circuit will be stuck in the low input mode. There are mods out there that allow for the inputs to be selected individually and also add a second preamp gain control for the low input. Years ago I tried to get more info on how to do this mod, but kept running into brick walls and eventually lost interest in it.

Ok, thanks. I won't give it a second thought.
