Hopefully between work schedule next few days can get what it is figured out. The vin tag has been verified by the Galaxie group & its a 1966 Ford Gallaxie xl 500, 390, 2v, c6, 3.00/1 rear gear, raven black with maroon interior.cool, whats your plan for the re build?
banged on the frame everywhere & will have to patch 3 spots. Luckily not much. Being boxed can put a piece right in if i bevel the edges to lay weld in. has only single master manual drums..crazy huh for a 2 ton missile lol. Probably convert front to disc & maybe power, doesnt have to be though maybe go to double master.
Right now deciphering block & heads serial #'s. Going to have to measure bore & stoke to actually figure out what it is at this point. Had it running just to see. Got aluminum radiator & tranny cooler. The radiator leaked so only had it on enough to set timing & adjust carb. Sat for 10 years & the unique smell of gas turning into shellac is ever present. But it did run when i got new gas to it. No strange noises, actually sounded strong. We shall see, if the crank & pistons/rods are OK going to rebuild it way it is & then next year will figure out if i need more power(Yes always) have 2 460's looking for light car to drop in & could conceiveably make this my daily & restore as we go.
