I think I need this

Sapient. I have a sweet Epiphone I'd like a Gibson headstock on. I used to hate the Epi shapes, but then they grew on me. I still own one of 3 Epis I used to have. My LP Std. Sold my EJ200 and Dot. Now I have a sweet Washburn HB 30 taking the place of the Epi Dot. I like the smaller headstocks on the Washburn's.
That's awesome, bro. Those were on eBay, just fyi. There was nothing against your Epi's there, but due to the cost difference there was some room for some funny there. No ill intentions meant at all.

I knew u were being funny, bro Sapient.

I am no brand snob. If I like a guitar, bass, banjo, drum kit, car, truck, motorcycle etc. I buy the thing I like. It doesn't need to be a certain name and all else is junk. Heck I drive a $1 Ford truck and a $200 1983 Honda Wagon. My vehicles are older than most of my family.

I hope not...

Not sposed to be. Sposed to be glossy. For me, as long as it isn't crudded up and the hardware is shiny.
Will be here tomorrow. It is actually in Saskatoon already (!) but needs custom clearance stuff. Crazy fast shipping!!
I talked to Gibson and they told me a "R" guitar without VOS costs waaaaaay more and only 1 certain dealer had ordered them that way.
So if you want a guitar without pre-rusted hardware and no finish scratches....take out a loan from the bank.

I think Gibson started doing VOS to save labor costs. think about it....
I heard people say they returned VOS guitars because of all flaws and scratches and rusted screws.

IMHO,
why would I spend 5 grand on a new guitar with scratches? Rusted hardware?

But you can always replace the hardware and Buff out the scratches....make your own non VOS.

But I still really like Gibson guitars even scratched rusted ones.......it don't affect the sound and playing.
I still love to play a Gibson.

The only changes I have made to any of my Gibsons, is changing strings, and I lowered the bridge pickup on my V = bone stock in my book.

I'm gonna say this and i believe its 100% true.

Ive probably installed more pickups - for hire - than the average person, and this includes Thro-Bak's, Virgil Arlo's and every other boutique/high dollar model you can name.

Im yet to be blown away by a pickup swap, even the really expensive ones.

I've found far more "coloration" from the amplifier.

I think that most players adopt a "sonic predisposition" and they make purchases to fit their sonic narrative.

One of L.A.'s top producers told me once, "be careful what you listen for, because eventually, you will hear it..."

They use a walk-in freezer to induce checking of the lacquer.

Much cheaper to produce a "distressed" guitar.

With the exception of a handful of artist models, all the Fender hardware comes pre-relic'd from China in huge lots.

New glossy shiny.
No VOS.
And yes it was more $ but not much more.

I made changes to almost all my Gibson's.

3 knob SG got new tuners. The old kluson type were loose as ship..

79 LP got a new bridge and dowels in the holes to tighten up the inserts. The saddles on the Schaller bridge were all chewed up on the 43 year old guitar.

My SG Faded got new pots n wiring due to a cutting out scenario in one pup while using Tone knobs or Volume that got wonky.

My SG Classic donated the snot green tuners to the 3 knob, so it got new white button Klusons.

While not a Gibby SG. After buying my used G400 several years back. Over the next few years I ended up modding and/or changing everything on it except the wood and the plastic. Some things needed swapped. Others maybe not so much. It was my first electric. And at the end of the day, it has been my “test mule.” I learned lots about working on and set up on an electric. Things you don’t even concern yourself with on an acoustic….. and ultimately, it turned into a right nice playing and sounding guitar.

Oh yeah, n my white 76 SG got the EMG pups n controls swapped out for the stock Tarbacks and OEM controls
My faded SG is going to get pots an maybe a new jack it’s getting wonky sometimes, my V could use a new jack as well, as it has started making a little noise..
But the other LP’s are humming like they are supposed to..

Cheers
