[/URL]We will hit that tonight too.I pray for global warming with the windchill - 40 degrees F the last few day's
The only ones I can remember in both C and F. Boiling, freezing and -40. Beyond that…. I have Google to make the conversion. We will hit that tonight too.
Fun fact - 40F equals - 40 C...
So fun to experience
Almost the same here. Almost. The only ones I can remember in both C and F. Boiling, freezing and -40. Beyond that…. I have Google to make the conversion.![]()
For whatever reason I’ve made rocket science out of converting C to F or F to C in my head. Can do linear, mass and volume pretty close. More an estimate than exact…. But that’s usually close enough unless you’re building something or baking…. Etc.Almost the same here. Almost.
Also 20C = 68F. As an absolute, 1 degree C = very close to 2 degrees F so 22C is 4 degrees F above 68 so 72. Can kinda convert sorta..
They are going to eventually pull it like a sled away from the house , at the bottom of the framing you can see the painted silver 2x8’s that are 10’ long.. the have a couple of garden spikes pounded into the ground, the will have to pull up before they move it. The deck top will get screwed so they can be removed. That looks like it will be solid as a rock when you are done!!!
Well if you never use it, why learn it?For whatever reason I’ve made rocket science out of converting C to F or F to C in my head. Can do linear, mass and volume pretty close. More an estimate than exact…. But that’s usually close enough unless you’re building something or baking…. Etc.
I will say. I learned metrics taking HS chemistry and physics back in the dark ages. After figuring out how easy it was…. I wanted to go find the guy that invented the asinine system we use in this country and inflict harm on him…. It would seem I was too late.

I was all for it as well. As a mechanic I welcomed it. Especially when, in the case of a 77 Chevy I had, most of it was still American hardware. Until I climbed under the car to drop the trans. Bolts that held flex plate and bell housing to engine…… American. Rear trans mount. Metric. Why??? Transmission itself was metric.Yeah. Remember that push in the late '70s or early '80s to go metric in the US? I wish that would have succeeded. I started to use the metric system myself, as much as I could. I drove my mother nuts using units like centimeters and kilograms!
Ah well...

Yeah, the iconic Randy's Donuts giant donut has been in many movies including Hancock with Will Smith in 2008Iron Man donut.
This is a good read on the danger of metric and imperial conversions.Except for my old Harleys, everything I do is now metric. If I’m repairing a machining center, I have to put it into metric to match the current calibration of my eyes, and because all the parameter sets are metric.
As for GM transmissions, they moved production to Ontario in the seventies. That’s why they were all metric.
Besides, this meme is spot on. Americans refuse to use the metric system, and sometimes can’t even grasp Imperial.

A fascinating story, saw an excellent docu on this. Amazing,. for those who don't wish to read it all-This is a good read on the danger of metric and imperial conversions.
