Twisted F'n Sister for the SMF's ...

Another that I've always wanted to do. Sorry, ...not much going on today and it's not like we're flooded with posts here. Lol. (y) (y)

Twisted Sister - The Price

:dood:
Damn. I want to break out a lighter.
I haven’t heard that song in a long time.

Nice job.

Tell your singer I'm-a'movin' in!! Lol.

Just kidding. I could never front like that in any case. Not my personality. Singer's are generally extroverted people people that are very social and wordly. One part that will never be me for sure.

Funny story.
When I was in my first band in high school we had a singer who had this James Hetfield/Vince Neil thing happening. He sang like Hetfield (sort of) and had the looks of a Neil with the blonde feathered hair. He was that guy that couldn’t walk by a reflective surface and not stop to admire himself. He seemed so confident when we practiced.
Anyway.
We were scheduled for a battle of the bands. It’s our first ever show. We practiced hard for this.
We all showed up except our singer. In those days no cell phones, so calling wasn’t working.
Needless to say. We didn’t do well that night as an instrumental act.

We later found out our front man had a terminal case of stage fright.
… at the time it wasn’t funny. But now thinking back at it. Here is a guy who worked so hard on his look and when it came to the moment of truth he completely wussed out.
So extroverted yes he was. He was all show and no go.
Just in case you were wondering.
We didn’t win.

For sure I get that. (1) I don’t sing melody well enough to be a front man. Harmony. Bass. Different story. But I ain’t up front with every one staring at me. (2) same on guitar. I could never be the lead player. Same reason. Rhythm. Think Malcom Young. Stand in the back by the drummer. Inconspicuous. Of course at best, I’m only 10% what Malcom was….. but you get the point.

That was spot on!

Wow. I imagine WITH that singer back then you would have done real well too. Yea, it's a scary thought considering one has to front the whole project usually as the social rep for all, the story teller, the politician - band politics, interviews - answering properly and dodging as needed, not making a beef by slipping on something. There's working the crowd and moving and adjusting to environment, etc. Us guitarists, as my personality has always been for 35 years get to kinda hide behind our instruments. We get "attention" and love but don't have to really speak in any way if we don't want to. We can hide between sets and be sort of anonymous where as the singer's duty is to yuk it up with literally everyone. Man, that is not me in any way. Especially in a cover band - if a sullen original band is more offish it's fine because they define themselves that way to maybe be more aloof. This would be a break for a singer at least in regards to everything but the actual singing.

In a way, the guitarist gets the best of all worlds.

I get ya for sure. I'm more the Angus type, I think. And the reason is like I said to 'evil, whatever you do you don't have to be a social center point when it's over. Technically you could shake a few hands and go home after the show. Lol.

Yea, Malcomb is another personality type - they like to have fun but really are not comfortable with any attention. I see John Paul Jones like this also. To me it's more analogous to a trucker in that they do their thing but really don't want anything to do with anything other than what exactly it is they do.

I think musicians are a representation of their personality type and that's what chose their instrument more than anything. With that, I will never be a "singer" singer. The thought of everything involved just gives me anxiety. Lead guitar does not at all.

I do some lead in the band but can hide behind my guitar. I feel naked onstage without. I am an extrovert on stage to be sure but not for singing.
The first time in the studio ever for me when it came time to do backing vox, I asked to wear a guitar in the booth!
Comfort zone...

Thank you
