Box sounds a little flat...maybe by a semitone
Oh yeah, thanks for sharing...again.I had me a mess of those Gibson boxes....LOL
I had three sets of new Gibson 'humbuckers' that developed a lot of buzz/hum and also picked up local FM radio stations. Switched pickups and it went away. My brand new Gibson 50's Tribute Les Paul did the same thing. I even made a video of the noise and switched between guitars on the video and sent this to Gibson AR. Upon inspection, the Gibson warranty technician in Hollywood advised they've been seeing a lot of shorts and problems with both Gibson pickups and with the PCB's. He also showed me a rack of new Gibson's in his shop waiting for replacement pickups under warranty. I had no idea how many people were having the same problem until I started searching for You Tube videos of buzzing/humming Gibson's'.

At that point, after three brand new Gibson's and 3 sets of new Gibson pickups, I set aside my historical fascination with the vintage Gibson's I grew up playing and decided to build my own guitars and have my own pickups wound for me. Even my first, totally unshielded prototype was dead quiet.
I only have one Gibson left that I cannot seem to find a home for. There's nothing Gibson in it anymore, but now it's totally quiet. It's only used by my music students now...

It's popular with the student's who get a kick out of playing a "real" Gibson, well at least it's real Gibson wood anyways...![]()

Maybe a Good Gibson Box would be nice sounding in a Cigar Box guitar.
Of all the pickup boxes I've had, the best one is by far from Bare Knuckle. Great British tone cardboard.
Oh yeah, thanks for sharing...again.![]()
No, no, no...I cannot take credit for that...You can thank Gibson...But seriously, all things seem to have a purpose. Had I not have gone through the frustration with my 3 Gibson's, I would have never built my own guitar line, so while it was certainly frustrating, it really was a reason to just invest in an idea and try something new.
There you go again...changing the topic to fit, and plug, your agenda...let's stick to the OP's original intent...
Just last week I received this poor, not well known, obstructed beast...

Rest assured that I have since cleared the offending obstructions...and all is well now!
:dood: This package is clean!
Dude, that's the best one so far! It's both a pickup box AND a house for a small cat!
Rest assured that I have since cleared the offending obstructions...and all is well now!
That's good to hear. I see your box has that foam in it, just like my Seymour Duncan box.
What's your opinion of the foam? I think it could make some boxes sound too muddy. But, for me, it took the brittle highs out of my box.
