What's great about an SG?

you can always go the Epi route to try the feel and vibe Steve.

Not sure why AMS poo'ed the P90s Ive had (and have) several with them and loved them ....

Too weak for what I play. Too much buzzing being single coil.
But P90 sounds good for slide guitar.

Me thinks you just haven't tried the right P90. I have a couple of hot P90s that hang with my best HBs. I have some "vintage" output P90s that I think absolutely suck.

My favorite P90s are Wolfetone and SD hot P90s. This is why I was turned on by the P90 SG Jr posted above, I have a couple of P90s just sitting here waiting for a guitar to put them in. I would love to get a 70s standard LP, but I cant justify that coin and it doesn't even come with a maple neck! :run: I don't need a neck pickup anyway.

The nice thing about Juniors, is the tenon is not all cut up to stick the neck pickup in there. As a result, you have a very rigid and stable neck joint while still having all the upper neck access.

owe to yourself to try one Steve.
I'm going to. I'm on the road for a few days right now driving around east Tennessee. I'm headed to Knoxville tomorrow and gonna check out some guitar stores. If I don't find what I'm looking for I might head up to Nashville. I'm also interested in checking out some ESPs if I can find any.

So no one is saying anything about neck dive so far so that's cool.
Some can be a bit neck heavy. My G400 seemed to be when I got it. I guess I don’t really notice anymore. Most will mention getting a quality leather strap and you won’t have a problem. With mine, if I walked around with my hands to my side the neck would sometimes head to the floor. Walk around playing it. Never been an issue. I have more problems keeping my round backed Ovation from squirming around on my round belly.

I have back and neck issues that prevent me from strapping one on anymore so I always play sitting down these days. And since I'm not in a band and on stage it's not a problem.

I hate Ovations for just that reason. I've never understood the round back, I just can't play them.

My first good guitar was a 1961 Les Paul SG standard wore it out sold the husk saved the parts
I was dropping off some guitar amps at the music store in the back room seen a SG case asked if I could check it out
