What's great about an SG?

I don't even think I've ever played one, but for some reason my curiosity piqued. I guess I've always been turned off because of all the neck heavy complaints I read about, but are they all like that?. I've been seeing a lot of SGs in vids lately and they always rip. Anyway, I was just thinking. :hmmm:

I've only owned one SG. Beautiful Arctic White. My wife gave it to me for a wedding present (Strats were hard to find at that time). It just would not stay in tune. Had it checked out by a couple of techs and they couldn't figure it out either. Kept it for about 4 months until I found a Strat. Traded it even up. Never looked back.

Its a Swiss Army Knife of a guitar for one. Literally walks the line of somewhere between a Les Paul but with Strat like qualities in the dual cutaways and lighter weight compared to an LP ( actually greater fret access as mentioned and a far lighter body to a Strat). Its often brighter sounding than an LP but darker than a Strat, so an amazing compromise

But its also one of the most affordable Gibsons there are and its greatest seller of all time

I like the "light weight" part, but anything above about the 15th fret is uncharted territory for me so "upper fret access" is not really a selling point. :ROFLMAO:
SG has really nice play-ability and typically low action, very easy to play.
being mahogany it has a very solid sound and great sustain.
I would recommend the humbucker not P90...
It's an all around good choice. One of the best electric guitars I think. You should definitely get one to play.

That's weird, tuning issues can usually be resolved. What was the neck unstable or something?
