Non-Reverse Thunderbird Bass build

however now I need to address the fact........................... you have .... is that ??? an ORANGE CRUSH (??) MINI? amp on your work bench ?????

Yeah, it's my hotel room amp. Nine volt battery powered, and has a built in tuner. Grabbed it at Rockin' Robin Guitars in Houston many moons ago. Haven't used it in ages.
have you seen what one can do in a 2x12? the older ones dont have the line out but you can add one-- I added one to my crush 20 .....and I love it --- all that lovely ORANGE goodness.....for 80.00 --- yeah

Finally have everything sorted out, for the most part. Still need to finish the nut. Since it snowed yesterday, I can't take the belt sander outside. Don't really want to smell burning bone dust in the house. If it doesn't rain too much tomorrow, maybe I'll deal with it on the front porch. The intonation is finally sorted, and it sounds and plays well. Accidentally relic'd it after countersinking the screw holes to the correct depth, and then put all the screws into the pickguard. Oh well.

Belt sanded the nut, and polished it nicely this week. I used an elk anter dog chew to make the blank for the nut, as I couldn't find a bone blank big enough at any of the luthier supply places. I have enough material for five more. Nice hack, for those who may need it later. So, all strung up, and intonated, and sounding great. Calling it done.

Hanging out with a couple of friends, also not of factory origins.

Me too. I'm going to do my best to get a Bridgeport and an air compressor in the garage this summer. As soon as weather allows, I'm going to get the Pan/Shovel running, then sell the motorcycle lift to free up floor space. We'll be adding an overhang to the garage and a tool shed, so I should get enough room out there to get both to fit. It's a tiny garage, barely big enough to fit a Model T, as the house and garage we're built in 1925.
I used to have a sweet Bridgeport Shaper. Had to sell it though. Kept my cutters though.

Yeah I've always wanted to be able to build a guitar from complete scratch, but I'm a realist and I know enough about woodworking to know that I don't know nearly enough about woodworking to accomplish that. Plus tools aren't cheap and I am.
Daggone Yargnad really threw a batch of sugar in my gas tank bailing on the forum after almost 4600 posts. Sure liked having Dan around. Sorry to lose ya Dan.

Holy crap! I didn't realize he bailed. That sucks. Did someone piss him off, or did he decide to get a life and stay away from the virtual world?
