Anyone here play a Gretsch?

no mines set neck
V stop bar .... identical blacktop (china made) pickups --identical knobs identical bridge

Are you sure you got the right pic??? Im sure the custom shop WOULD make a 4k gutiar look like a 500.00 one but what customer would want that?
View attachment 82649

this is a 500.00 electromatic in walnut stain and a laurel board -- lower cost knobs (not the ruby ones on a USA gretsch) ---are you sure you didnt just post the wrong pic ?

--- or did you accidentally fall in love with a CHINESE GRETSCH??? ;) ;) (kinky)

This is indeed a USA model and marked as such.

You see some amazingly plain-jane USA varieties and others with the full Monty.

Probably a build to order.

That said, I again am not sure how the money has anything to do with it? I enjoy playing no matter how much or even IF I am getting paid so as I assume literally every member here. The price is always right to me. Being paid doesn't put one in a different league than anyone else as has been discussed in prior threads.

That's awesome!!!

I love seeing that kind of energy!!! Good job!!! Don't ever relax!!!!

I love anyone who plays f☆☆king flat out and if I am bleeding, I love it even more.

I'm in no way offended by your opinion. Neither is what I say, think or feel a "put down." I'm just trying to tell you how I feel and there's a huge reason behind it.

Different league??? No. Not at all. Perhaps a different mindset I think.

There's a certain motivation that comes from knowing that you have to pay the mortgage and that's always in the back of my mind.

I think that @eSGEe truly understands this.

When I was in my last band, I was the ONLY member not retired and financially secure. We were making a fortune doing estate parties and casinos.

When that band broke up, I lost a $800.00 - $1,000/week income. That's why I went to Fender. I needed to replace that income. Nobody else was "hurt" by the breakup.

Every other band I encountered since wants me to play for drinks. These Kats "play at playing," and it's not a serious business to them and I can't depend on those personality types.

The money is everything to me, Bro. I'm a functioning idiot with no other resources. I will likely work until I die. Might as well enjoy it.

(I'm seriously happy for those of you who don't have to live like this)

I absolutely get a thrill out of how much I get paid to do this crazy poop.

I might be less of everything than you, and even less of a player than many of you here, but I feel like I have my own little niche carved out.

Ok, so my little niche is at the bottom of the musical trash hopper, but i carved out that little space and I'm super happy I finally found a musical home.

I'm the original misfit. Im an opinionated poop chute, and sometimes a giggling drunk, but somehow....people have seen something in me that they felt was different enough that it made me a living.

I've told everyone here this time and again.

I'm nobody. I'm a name on a non disclosure agreement. I'm a supporting musician. I'm The Neanderthal. Uneducated. Rough. Perhaps even a little bit dumb.

But it just seems so satisfying to me that after all the years of being put down, being the outcast, I've been blessed to be where I am in this happy little corner of the musical trash can.

Hell, I can't even name half the chords I play and I get calls in the middle of the night to drive down to a studio and lay down tracks for hire.

You see, i'm not in their "league," its not the other way around.

Oh yes I get that mortgage thing this months GAS $ went to a new well pump just this past Friday been three weeks without the well....

Really?? Thats amazing they did a HELL of a job in the custom shop making a very expensive clone of their own Chinese model.

Id like to see that headstock back ... Ive not found a single usa model with the Chevron tailpiece (usually maligned by the "purists" ) the "lesser" blacktop foreign made pups (instead of TV jones) maybe a Korean one .... but never USA

Custom shop does some AMAZING work

I'll snap more detailed photos for you when I encounter another one. Actually, I see the v tailpiece is common. But it's RARE not to see a Pigsby on the USA models.

TV Jones sound like poop, IMHO.

This is a Japan model, but we see TV Jones in the "ICS" (Indonesian serial) models too.

See, there's just no real standardization on these guitars. It's all over the place.

Sometimes, we get really oddball guitars.

For example, a while back, I got a USA prefix Stratocaster that had 'Squire' saddles that I had to change out. Turns out the bridge plate was also incorrect and needed a different string spacing.

Have you ever seen 'Squire' stamped saddles????

There is one model in particular....I can't recall the model number...but the USA model and the MIJ version are completely identical. There is no discernible difference other than one says USA and one says Japan.

Note this is a small pin bridge. Ive seen small pin on Indo and China sometimes too.

COOL I LOVE NO RULES!!!--- I am ditching my "electromatic" pick guard --- investing in some real TV jones and sellin mine for 5k!! ;)
Hell for that mark up I might even slap a pigsby on it !!! then I could ask 6k lol

Yes there would be a motivation knowing the mortgage is paid from that!!
I applaud your ability to make a living doing it, and, mosg importantly, enjoy it and not let it suck the joy outta playing!!
I do enjoy knowing I can play whenever I want or not .

Again, the very high dollar models are super unique.
