This post has nothing to do with music, other than the fact that one opposing nation was so impressed with one of these guys that they wrote a song about him.
We're talking cricket folks, & anyone from a "cricketing nation" will know these two Aussie test cricketers.
Awoke yesterday to hear of the passing of Rodney Marsh (heart attack), one of the world's great wicket keeper's. Represented Australia from 1971~1984. As a Late middle order batsman he could usually be counted on to add 30~50-ish runs to the total & was know on occasion to snap bats in half from hitting the ball so frikking hard.
Awoke this morning to hear of the passing of Shane Warne (heart attack), without doubt the best spin bowler (leg spinner) the world has ever seen. Represented Australia from 1992~2007. With his ability to make the ball turn at insane angles he was able to make the world's best batsmen look like grade school cricketers. Here's the first clip I grabbed off YouTube
though IMO, there's better YouTube clips of him in action if one looks.
They'll both be missed by all of Australia & the cricketing world in general.
RIP Rodney Marsh & Shane Warne.
