So anyway, my wife and I celebrate our 28th Wedding Anniversary this weekend. No trip, no jewellery, no cards, flowers or fancy eatin'.
Being the practical lady she is, she wanted flooring. 1,500 square feet of it. I've been hauling, packing and stacking these heavyish boxes around for days now, shifting furniture, pulling trim. Thank goodness we found a reputable installer. I'm helping as much as I can, but he doesn't seem to want much from me.
I'm not so hot on the colour, it's like driftwood or barn board to me, a little nutty brown mixed in. Probably totally fash right now, but five years from now ...who knows? We're hoping it adds to the saleability of this joint more than for our personal wants
It's some sort of polymer stone stuff with a vinyl finish, and it's dropping down up what the installer believes is quite likely late 50's "schoolhouse" stuff which we are covering up asbestos we can, and keeping the dust to a minimum, if you get my drift.
Managed to call in some favours with a local building supplier I used to do a lot of advertising business with and who always asked for deals, he also enjoyed the service of both my very diligent hardworking teen kids for summer jobs over the years, so gladly saw fit to give us a decent discount.
I live in a smallish country church we have slowly converted into a home... so we have one large open room , the kitchen is raised where the altar was, master bedroom looks over it all up in the choir loft... entrance foyer, bathroom etc. Will include a new shower enclosure also, the old one is cracking up and falling apart.
Been ten years since we've done any kind of reno, and as much as I resist these things, it's the old HW/HL thing we trophy husbands have to endure from time to time.
