I remembered I had that very problem with my interface when it was new and first hooked up. I did a cold boot on the interface itself and walaaa!!
What happens is you install the software but the interface isn't then joined in to be recognized ..it has to do with the order everything is done in.
If you would have had your interface off while you installed the software the first time, then plugged it in and turned it on it would have been fine.
Lesson: Have interface not connected at software install time. The install will tell you when to connect it or just connect it when the install is complete.
