I have read installation instructions that suggest you may need to shut off firewall and antivirus to install properly. To date I haven’t had to do that…. Just been lucky I guess.

I did everything. I unintalled, turned everything off, did a cold reboot, connected the 2i2 then started Reaper ... EUREKA!!!!
I am now working properly. Thank you all for the help.
Also, it looks like Focusrite just posted an updated software and driver package on their site.
So what one thing worked? I have no clue and I pretty much dont care.

Cool beans man. And been there done that. Take apart something that’s not working. Can’t find anything wrong. Put it back together and it works. Like you. No idea…. Don’t care.

I pretty much always turn off all the security when installing anything like drivers or software.
There is also windows guardian, which I turn off permanently because it drives me goo goo.

The next step is to set the computer for high performance.
It makes a pretty noticeable difference. Even in the video quality.
To do that you need to get into the power configuration.
And I don't know how to do that in windows 10.
But it's worthwhile to do it.
You see, when you install windows it defaults to "wimp power saver" mode.
And you never see the performance that it's capable of.
You have to get in there and change it to high performance mode, to really make it go.
And when you change it you will be glad you did.

I remembered I had that very problem with my interface when it was new and first hooked up. I did a cold boot on the interface itself and walaaa!!
What happens is you install the software but the interface isn't then joined in to be recognized ..it has to do with the order everything is done in.
If you would have had your interface off while you installed the software the first time, then plugged it in and turned it on it would have been fine.
Lesson: Have interface not connected at software install time. The install will tell you when to connect it or just connect it when the install is complete.

The thing that worried me the most was how many issues I found while searching for my issue.
But all is well that ends well.
@Amp Mad Scientist i will turn the performance up on my PC later. After messing with this for 3 days. I want to play around with my new toys and see what kind of tone I can get out of my HX Stomp.
