Who are your Big 5 metal bands?

Live's Big 4 thread got me wondering.

Would love to hear everyone's Big 5 metal bands - not who you think is best/most successful/whatever, but your "if I was on a desert island with only 5 metal bands to listen to forever" who would it be.

For me, in varying order from day to day:

1. Voi Vod
2. Bolt Thrower
3. Metallica
4. Impending Doom
5. Living Sacrifice/Soul Embraced (basically the same pack of musicians in 2 bands... yes, that's cheating, but it's my thread... ha!)

Oh man, thats a tough one ... only 5? Great Thread topic!

I have 3 MUST haves, then its tough to choose 2 more.
1) Slayer
2) Megadeth
3) Pantera

Metallica didnt make the top 3 because I can hear their songs in my head with great detail, so its kinda like having a free Metallica streaming service stuck in my brain.

4) Motorhead ... gotta have me some Lemmy!
5) Sabbath, just for the sheer catalog of great songs.

I figure that should cover it. But those last 2 were tough, and I really thought about it too.

for about two weeks I would enjoy
Metallica for the laffs
Sabbath for the history
Priest for variety
Accept for the Teutonic content
Cancer bats for the Canadian content

honestly after about two weeks of that only, I might be inclined walk forward into the ocean until I drowned myself or a shark ate me.

But there are some really good ones.
Mastodon
Saxon, loved Saxon back in the day "Crusader, Crusader, please take me with you. The battle lies far to the East..."
Wasp, Blackie Lawless was my entire reason for buying a BC Rich Warlock Bass
Testament
Accept, Back in the VH-1 days, was that Headbangers Ball back then? I don't remember. Or was that MTV?

Oh definitely, not a bad band listed in this thread yet. Just think Sepultura, especially early one, were total riff masters.

Black Sabbath
Motorhead
Metallica
Pantera
RATM

Honorable Mentions;

Tool
Korn
Dream Theatre

...and the internet says The Scorpions are Heavy Metal! If so, they go in my Top 5!
Oddly, I was never a Tool fan.

Scorpions was always considered Metal, but by comparison to some other bands they would be like an easy listening metal.
Sort of like Godsmack, great band, love their music, but they are on that cusp of metal, grungy hard rock ... I guess nu-metal maybe?
