So, my wife went to our local bank today, which holds our home mortgage.
She paid the final payment.

We have a modest but well kept home.
We are mortgage free - 26 years on an initial 30yr mortgage!!!
We still have some home equity loan $$ to pay off.
Comparatively, our mortgage payment (without HO ins. or property taxes) - was less than our monthly Health Ins. premium, which was not a "Cadillac" plan.
(which we have been without for some months since it was through my wife's ex employer)
We are signing up for a NJ marketplace plan this weekend.
Higher deductibles and co-pays for the coverage / plan we can afford.
Without any political comment, just a solid factual statement: the whole AHA / Obamacare thing did not improve the health insurance for MY working class / lower middle class family. Your experience may be different and I respect that.
I do not want to give the mods heartburn or start a discussion over it: lets just say I may have had more new gear posts here if they did in fact improve the system, as advertised.
I truly wish they would have.
