FRIDAY NIGHT RIFFS

I'm with you all the way.. I seem to botch stuff up in one area or another, plug a hole in the boat only to find a new one in an alternate area... I have to work on more endurance and more dexterity for sure...
Ditto. I have been working on pick accuracy and techniques. I mess up all the time but still post. Usually it’s the first or second take.
I am currently working on learning lead work. It’s coming along. I’ve been at it for a few weeks. I want to be able to make up my own licks, even if it’s just a few notes to fill a piece between chords.

In the spirit of things being worked out. Here is an idea I had bouncing in my head. I wanted something dark sounding without down tuning.

Tell me what you think, its a bit repetitive but its being worked on.
Sounds good. And I do get envious of you guys with normal sized hands. My short stubby fingers just don’t allow me to do some of the stuff you guys do.

I have fat fingers. And here is what I was told when I couldn’t fit my fingers together to do an open A chord.
There is always a way that works for you.
Maybe it will take a little more hand movement or a different grip on the neck.
No such thing as can’t.

Open A. I learned two fingers. First finger on D string. Middle doubling up G and B string. My youngest has true man hands. And does the three finger approach. As you say. Whatever works.

I used to just barre the 2 strings with my index finger. But have since trained myself to do it with 2 fingers, still not correct but it is how I do it.
Thanks

Nice riff, has a big opportunity to expand on.. and the doom aspect is still showing in standard tuning..
Cheers

Rawdog alert:

since the raw thing seems to have some likers...
Here's a different riff idea I was messing around with about 10 days ago but I thought it was stupid.

Aerosmith on steroids. Loved the intro (it’s what gave me the Aerosmith reference) I like how the heavy chug filled it out.
Cheers

Very cool Black Sabbath vibe going on there.

Like Mitch said, I was totally waiting for it to keep going... make it keep going... please...

Thats about where I'm at with things, Trying to get more dexterity, legato, and full string bends with a quick partial scale in between chugging on chords.. My flexor tendons do to an old injury cramp up pretty quick so I am trying to build more endurance which seems to be what is holding me back.. :-( I have to be very selective in what I try and play ego songs to boost me up, Project songs to explore new territory or just build new skills.. it gets overwhelming and trying to stay focused is always a challenge right....
WOW STU, I have the same problem. I had a ..... here comes the laughter .... bicycling accident. OK, I'll wait until you all compose yourselves.
.....
.....:cautious:
ANYWAY, and I tore up my right wrist pretty good. and fractured a few bones in my left. I feel your pain .... literally!
