I suppose the best suggestion I can make is,

Amp > Microphone > analog board eq > Analog to Digital >
It's always better to get some EQ up before converting an analog signal to digital...it's better to use a good analog board.

Any good UK mix desk already has usable EQ. Something like Soundcraft or Allen Heath etc...
Those are preferable because the channel EQ has a much sweeter sound.

From what I have been told it's way better to use a good microphone / analog board, then convert the signal to digital for recording.

But you can find a decent Allen Heath for not a lot of cash.
 
I only have one compression fx on it, SC compresses hell out of it when you upload.

I will upload raw file and lets see if its any better. I don't have the mix anymore as individual tracks. I got rid of it way before I bought bass.

I dont have EQ but planing to get it. My shopping list is long and at the same tine my house needs some wear and tear repairs. It never ends :(

The type of compressor to use:
is a multi band compressor.
It divides the frequencies into low, mid, high, etc and compresses each band of frequency separately.

By doing this, it eliminates the "pillow" effect of compression and allows it to sound natural instead of all squished together.
(I learned this trick from the engineers at Rane...)

Even Behringer makes a multi band compressor, which is probably the cheapest.

But you will recognize what it does to the sound quality.
This multiband system is used by FM radio stations pretty widely.
(like the "opti-mod.")
