Recording and production.

Robert’s track pictured has obviously been nuked at around 100hZ prior to the eq in the screenshot. It could have been anything that applied it…from hardware to software…the ramp up in signal representation leads me to believe it was either software, or both hardware(preamp/interface) and software. It looks like a mighty perfect reflection of a standard high-pass filter…usually there’s some chuff left floating around below 50hZ, but that’s just a snapshot of a moment without true context, so….

Good observation.

I'm looking at trends in the tonal spectrum and trying to find a way to improve my own tone. I left the studio at 2:30am this morning and I haven't been to sleep yet. I'm still fiddling around with my headphones on until my crew wakes up.

Ya, Man...

TBTH, right now I'm not liking really anything that we are cranking out. I mean, ya, ok, they are up to almost 3 million streams/views/plays, but I feel like what we are doing could be - and should be better. I don't mean that from just a guitar perspective. I mean it in the context of the entire band. I feel like (respectfully) that because of their huge social media following that the stuff is 'good enough' and I think it has to be better.

Having said that, I am well aware that my archaic tone and playing must likewise evolve. My tone is also something that I feel like needs to take a more 'multi-dimensional' quality, while still sounding unique and identifiable.

I'm just really overwhelmed today now that I've stepped off the train and I am looking at how long it is, if that makes any sense.

Any project that I sign onto has to get my best work, and I'm realizing that I really need to step up from mediocre or just 'good enough' to something great.

Thanks for posting this...

@mcblink - Every time I listened to the project here, I want a Friedman JJ Jr even more… :rolf: :dood: :rolf::cheers:

Friedman is very open about being a disciple of the Jose Arredondo school of zener diode clipping.

The saturation and JBE switches are really just variables of Jose Arredondo diode clipping, but in this case, its Friedman's special name for his own "brand" of Jose zener diode clipping strategy.

About the only thing Friedman really does differently (from a standard jose mod) is he appears to add a resistor in series with the clipper to reduce it's effect somewhat.

Seems like a neat little amp.

Very much like how my Ivanberg Modded ORI50 works...
