Hetfield vs Hanneman

F@$# it: Jeff Hanneman. Brutal, fast, wrote the most upsetting song lyrics imaginable at times, looked like he could've ate James Hetfield and he got bit by a brown recluse spider while losing a ton of skin on his arm and yet healed up and began playing again. Unfortunately he died shortly thereafter but that was cirrhosis related.

Hetfield is the best, he wrote riffs from thrash to pop and everything in between.

He is the best down picker, tight rhythm guitars in metal. He can sing while he rapes his explorer with downpick …

Hets riffs are more memorable than Hennamens.

While they are both "thrash" bands, I kinda feel like Metallica and Slayer are like apples and oranges, you know what I mean? They had certain similarities, but they are both wildly different bands with so many dissimilarities that it's kinda hard for me to compare them to each other.

I know what you mean, Tallica song formats and sound is more acceptable to many than Slayers…

I do like both but I like Tallica more.
 
I dunno Mike, there's only one way for this debate to end....which one could drink the other under the table?

Truth be told, I don't think they really liked each other that much either. That's not to say that there was any feuds or anything, but reading interviews and everything when I was younger, I always got the impression that they were never really friends or anything

My dad swears to this day he could've played The Cowardly Lion in a potentional Wizard of Oz remake lol

I like Hetfield though, no animosity against him. Yeah, he sold out for a brief period but then again, so did every one of the thrash bands, namely in the 90s. Lest we forget Megadeth's Risk album, Slayer's Diabolous In Musica and Anthrax's Volume 8: The Threat Is Real.

I LOVE Risk, I don't care what anyone says. Aptly titled as well.

I also LOVE Load and ReLoad too!

Sure, they don't sound like what we've come to expect from those bands, but they're chock full of great musicianship and writing. If I hadn't have known who those albums were recorded by, I'd think it was pretty decent stuff! There are moments in Load and ReLoad that sounds as if it could have been Alice in Chains stuff....and I like those guys too...so I can understand why so much hate for those albums exists, but I have a hard time acting as if I don't like them, because I actually do, quite a bit....I just have to remember that if I wanna listen to thrash, I won't play those ones, but if I wanna chill around the BBQ with some beers or something like that where I might put something a tad more mellow on, they're viable options for me.
