New project

Hopefully the hardware of the tuning machines won't hang over the stepped edges!
It's gonna be livin' on the edge, for sure.

I was searching for inspiration and Adrian & I both came up with the same Greco pic.

They used a flat surface and the stepped edge is implied with two tone paint.
The visual impact would be there at a distance, but I had already taken the Dremel to it.

This Epiphone one is pretty close to to what I was able to pull off, but I can't tell if it's stepped or just painted.

Thanks Chili, I can always use visual aids.(y)

Hack, I just picked up 2 project guitars and a few parts that are needed to make complete guitar(s)

One is an SX that is a little dinged up and yet feels really nice. It is like a PRS Santana Double cut shape,
The 2nd one is an LP copy body, and a LP style neck, which will take some massaging to make playable once fitted in the neck pocket and glued in.
The LP Body will also take some finesse to prep it for finish coats, electronics,, bridge, tailpiece and pups.

The guy threw in 2 sets of pups and the wiring harness, pots for the SX.

2 beginnings of guitars for $100

I love great deals!
Got those three pointy bodies & two necks that I was fooling with a couple years ago for $40 off CraigsList.

Hack, I sure wish I was down in FLA instead of Md right about now.
You, Me, Adrian, and our other FLA buddies would have a blast, sanding, gluing in necks, painting, soldering, and even some playing of guitars and amps.

I sure do yearn for a big and organized and comfortable shop to work in on cabinetry, amps, guitars, chainsaws, restoring cars and trucks etc.

Hack, I have been hunting late 70's LP's and may have a few pics from different control cavities that the sellers provided me. Some are stock wiring as Gibson shipped it, others have 1 Coil split switch, and as the one I posted above and below is. Here is that one with the 2 switches for coil split and out of phase. I will try to add the others for your reference.

Well, it's been a while since I posted any progress on this thing, but it's been moving in the right direction.
Weather issues were thwarting the process.

All things considered, it came out pretty good.
I ended up streamlining what I was going to do with the wiring & switching and kept it simple.
Neck & bridge run through the 3 way switch and a volume & tone pot.
Being a matched set, they hum cancel when switched to the middle, both pickups.
Middle pickup goes through it's own volume & tone pot, and has a push pull that flips it's phase, so it can be combined with neck or bridge and be hum canceling.

It plays pretty well after the nut got fitted, a couple of high frets got dealt with and the frets got polished.

On to the Bigsby...
Picked up a new B5 and proceeded to hack it up.

First thing I did was machine off the upper most mounting leg & polish the area. This extra hunk of ugly metal always bugged me, when there, a spiffy place for the attachment screw inside the spring pocket. Cleans up the look, I think.

Then I pull the pins & drill & chamfer the string bar. It makes restringing the Bigsby, as easy as restring a stop tailpiece.

I also machine off the nub that keeps the bar from swinging in a full arc, & polish the arm lever.
That all makes for a great working and easy to live with Bigsby.

Hey hacky boy, how are you? Good to see back!
Thanks bro Ramo. I'm still kickin'.
Settling into official retirement. I quit my stupid day job about 10 or so years ago and never looked back.
Now the Mrs. is joining me in the life of leisure. She's finished up with two of her clients, and her last one bites the dust next month.
Life is good.
