Some Image issues

After the Photobucket fiasco of a few years ago, all my pics are uploaded either from files stored in my PC or from my smartphone. I make sure to resize the uploading pics to anything under 1 mb.
Aren't we supposed to link to photos and audio files instead of uploading because of server space? Or do I have that wrong?

The only thing that worked was the bottom code button in Imgur for message boards. Nothung else worked, no lknks, no add pocture. But that worked!
That's what I've used in the past; I normally prefer to use the Linked BBCode button since that way the pics show up without the Imgur border.

But many of the pics I've posted that way -- which always used to be visible until recently - now show as a placeholder.
Others can still be seen, but now they're rotated upside down or sideways.

Not sure what changed, and whether this change was planned or is an accidental side effect.
Either way, am wondering whether it's a temporary aberration or the new normal.

Another thing I've noticed: if I use the Rotate button to try correcting rotated or inverted images in older posts, the change doesn't show up when I click Return To Post.
