Von Herndon Custom Gibson Scale Stratocasters:

So, as I am always messing with things, I'm toying with the idea of throwing a Gibson Scale neck on my 1987 Squirecaster and then proceed with a custom body if I like the results...
I've thought about doing the same thing, both ways. I have bodies and necks available to put a start neck on a (Epi) LP body and LP neck on a tele body.

Interesting that Boris also makes pickups...

The "Musclebucker" caught my attention:

"MUSCLEBUCKER

the strongest pickup on the market. I found this receipeby mistake, it goes against every rule of pickupmaking
by reading over 20 Kohm. Never mind, it will blow you away, lots of power, attack and bite. The SCORPIONS favourite in most of their guitars, look at the videos..."

I'm really trying to figure out which way to go right now, but one thing I am certain of is the 24.7" scale length. That's a must have....

Well, This custom-made Studiocaster is getting closer to becoming a reality....

With the Stratocaster platform, I literally have no limitations.

My idea now is to blend the Ibanez Destroyer DT555 with a Stratocaster...so you would have a 100% mahogany, all black poly Studiocaster (with black/cream/black pickguard) with the "fat" headstock, 24.7" scale length, ebony fretboard, Gibson Les Paul Custom Style Pearloid block inlay, all gold plated hardware, gold Floyd Rose, (3) double-cream humbuckers 16.6k/15k/12/k, a conventional 3 way switch giving you bridge/middle/neck capability, a master volume, bridge and middle tone with a 'wide open' neck pickup fitted with a 270k resistor to cut the high frequencies and either gold speed knobs or black witch hats with gold lettering/numbering.

So this image will give you an idea of the all-black color scheme:

Pickups would be arranged like this but would be cream open bobbin:

But would be double cram open bobbin like this:

The gold Floyd Rose and the Gold headstock lettering would look a little like this:

And the Gibson scale length neck would have inlay like this - kind of a visual clue that it's a Gibson-esque scale length guitar and a little reminder of the Les Paul Customs:

So, this would give me the comfort of the Stratocaster body, the ability to keep using my black, 4" wide, non-adjustable guitar strap I made when I was 15, the flash of the gold/black Les Paul Customs I grew up admiring, the versatility of the DT555's middle humbucker and the cool 3 pickup Destroyer and a locking Floyd Rose that could be blocked for live performances...plus, it would carry my own name and be fairly original looking I think.

What say you, Tone Bros???? :-)
