What is Wrong with Me???

It's sometimes hard to pair down when you are trading one for two...

I'll get where I want to be soon. I need to set them all out this week and play each and every one of them. That will help me eliminate a couple I don't really need or have two that cover the same ground.

For sale posts will commence soon and then off to Reverb if no interest here...

I think I could maybe get down to 10 electrics if I had the right guitars. My herd has been gradually upgrading and the cheaper stuff is for sale now.

That's where I'm headed in some respects. I have nice Bacchus Telecaster with Twang King Pup's I'll be posting up.

And don't use that money for more guitars get a new amp a few pedals strings whatever anything but guitars

Can I poke your belly again franky? You're avatar is making me hungry...it looks like a delicious pot of home brew chilli that's making you fat! I'm getting fat just by drooling over your delicious looking avatar. Yum yum in da tum!

I do not get this whole conversation. assuming you can afford it and guitars are your thing and it is not hording to the point that there is no room for the family, why is this bad? If our OP is not having problems with guitar ownership other than guilt for spoiling himself, maybe we should adviee against the guikt, not the guitars. I dan tell you that I have you fellas beat and I am not even comsidering parting with my babies

The thing with me is I feel like I have more than I need at times...maybe not...maybe I'm just convincing myself to sell some so I can eventually buy more...

When I see so many on the shelf I wonder if I'll ever play some of them???

So get rid of the ones you are not inspired to play. But don't count. I rotate my guitars and each of them gets played. When I have a guitar in my hands, I usually like it enough that I do not want to put it down. Them I get the next one and feel the same way. How lovely to have the luxury of a pallet of guitars to paint with. There are so man colors in between the primary colors. Paint them all onto your musical canvas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thing...you can set your limit on how many guitars you own. It's almost like hoarding which I do so my solution is to avoid guitar and pawn shops period or else I'll be tempted. I had my eye set on a Ernie Ball Strat like guitar in blue which was sweet but I resisted temptation. I have to play the lottery so that I can build my own watehouse filled with guitars thar I adore.

SO ----is 20 bad?
BUt if the 20 cost less than ONE 2017 Gibson LEs Paul Custom is it still CRAZY

Now that's a guitar I want to get next...a Les Paul Custom in black with maybe three pickups all in gold hatdware! Thanks for tempting me Adrian...you are a devil you...you S.O.B. for trying to take a bite out of Adam's apple. Are you proud of yourself now...buuuaaahhh!!!!

Gear Acquisition Syndrome is a form of OCD... call it Guitar Acquisition Syndrome if you will
but lots of people suffer from it. Some don't suffer! Some just roll in it. Roll with it Baby!

I suffer from it to a certain degree, so I'm sympathetic (also to a certain degree)...
Most of guitar forum patrons share this syndrome, or we wouldn't be here. We'd be out
playing our guitar. (note the singular).

And let's face it: there are lots of worse forms this OCD can take. People collect lots of things...
men and women both. People collect stamps, coins, sexual partners, pornography, antiques,
dolls, lamps, baskets, edged weapons, electric fans, classic cars, you name it. I've been through a number of different phases of it in my long and checkered life. When I was young, it was model ships. *grins I sank all of those. It was a rite of passage.

I went through a firearm phase, and assembled a decent (small) collection of excellent weapons.
I have NOT sold any of those for a long time, even though I should. You can only SHOOT one at a time, eh? Some of those guns are worth real money. I'll sell them presently, and use the cash
in my retirement, if any.

...a little older and it was fishing lures. I still have a really nice collection of those. Fishing lures are really cool... like miniature works of art IMHO. I especially like wooden lures with glass eyes.

Recently it's become guitars. I own 11 right now, and am NOT in the market for more.
That's always been a virtue for me, the feeling of fullness, "I think I've got enough..."
Sometimes it seems ridiculous to me that I own 11 instruments, but like RVA I get them out one
by one and remember each time why I wanted that one, and why it was a good choice.

The cool thing about guitars as an object of OCD is that guitars can make music.
It's all about the music, really. That's one thing to remember. Nothing is important except the music. If you collect instruments, but don't forget to make music, then the obsession is not too
pernicious. Don't forget to pay your bills, and buy something nice for you long suffering spouse,
and play real music on real instruments. Then it's worth it, and you can hold your head up.

Good Golly... this is frick'n really nice for about $1300... :yesway:

Do you know what's the story, with those cool inlays?
Yes it is. Those circle inlays are rather rare, mostly because the PRS crowd prefers birds or moons, but I like them

Paul just does odd things for brief periods. You have to love his willingness to experiment in the market

Well said. One of my hobbies, working on guitars, would not be any fun if I could not enjoy the fruits of my labor by playing them. I have played every day without fail for about 4 years. I do not intend to break my streak.

I often have one around my neck while typing here, like now. I love this stuff!

Funny story. I have wanted an NF for the longest time. So one day I had the PRS Studio around my neck, which has HB-NF3-NF3 pups. My wife came in and in an effort to convince her that I needed an NF3 because the pickups were my favorite, I started to play to show her how nice they sound. As soon as I stopped she said "so just play that one more" - DARN, why didn't I see that coming!!???

Okay Been there done that over 20 went down to 6-7 you keep saying 10 and keeping 15 16 17 so
ITS time Pick the 5 you like best and start selling all the rest. You will probably keep 6 and one accoustic
make 7-8 guitars thats a fair number cmon man you and I both know we don't have time to keep more than that in playing rotataion.
This type of sh!t haunts me in my sleep...

Just tell her: "But Honey-Bunch...twice as more is more economically better. The guitars won't wear out as fast, and we'll save money later by not having to replace them... kisses, kisses, kisses..."
