Me either Kerry. I have enough issues with 6 on a guitar and 4 on a bass. Add a string I’m afraid my head would explode.

I tried a five string bass at a jam. I had to quit after one song. The muscle memory kept me going to the wrong string.

It's like anything else, just takes a little getting used to. I do often tend to come at my 7-strings/5-string bass with a different mindset though, using single notes more often on them than I do on the 6/4s. And you definitely need the right pickups/FX/amps or the really low stuff just becomes unintelligible.
