Building Mom a Les Paul Custom Replica

What RVA said.Ive Scotch brited the back of all my guitar necks.makes them so smooth. And ive really started to prefer the stained and oiled SG JR of mine over the one with poly.it just feels better.

The 2016 Gibson SG T Series has proven itself. Of course, with 9 feet of copper tape, $100 vintage wiring harness with K40Y Russian tone caps, and GFS Alinco II pickups...hand picked for ohms ratings....I guess it should be good!!!!

Interesting point...I love how poly looks, but I prefer how oiled wood feels...

Yes, definitely. My Jackson's oiled neck felt so good straight out of the box. Funnily, my nitro finished strat had the sticky neck thing more so than either of my Gibson's & I considered the Scotch brite pad, though in the end just playing a lot was enough to slick it up. Cheers

I'm trying to take a deep breath and get past all this craziness with scale length and such. For 20 years I played a Strat and for 12 I played a Schecter C1 Hellraiser and both are good instruments.

I want a Gibson, but I doesn't want me...

Play as many as you can , where ever you can. When you find one you think you like, take you amp & play it through that. You will find one you like, don't buy until you find the right one. Cheers

Yes....good advice unheeded!!!

I repent!!!

Thanks, Man...as we had all hoped, the gift of this guitar seems to have pulled Mom's focus away from worry over grand-kids leaving for college and Pop's forced retirement from the school district. She is amazed that her blood pressure is lower since she has been jamming away, 20 minutes to 1 hour every day....

That is so great to hear. Super cool story all the way round.
I lost my Mom last year, enjoy the time while you still can.
