FRIDAY NIGHT RIFFS

What first piqued my interest was the cover Locomotion, GFR had a very unique way of mixing Motown and rock together , they also did a Stones cover..
Great band that I still like listening to.
Cheers

My dad was and still is a big time GFR fan and i always listened to them riding around with him. The opening riff and main verse to Closer To Home was one of the earlier things I remember learning on guitar ( probably wasnt right but it was close lol). Caught In the Act is a great live album too

I had found a live performance of them on YouTube once. And let it play all the way home, from work.
Just can’t remember it lol

This was the one i remember dad playing. 1975 and had a lot of their hits including " Gimme Shelter" " Locomotion" "Closer to Home" "Shinin On" : you can find the playlist to the album here, 13 songs

But this was probably their more loved live one, early on in 1970

Coolest story i heard on them was selling out Shea Stadium in 72 hrs for 55,000 in attendance which broke the Beatles record and stood until the stadium was demolished. Humble Pie was their opener and they said the structure was actually being damaged from the crowd jumping up and down lol July 9, 1971

There is also the story of Peter Grant pulling the plug on them , before a Zep show

I have two from my mis spent youth. “Live” and “Mark, Mel, and Don.” Great albums.

Another good one from the same era. And I got to see these guys at Western Illinois University with a bunch of friends that were going to school there.

Nice work Ramo
came up with this riff last night, i discarded many different types :)

also, recorded another song today. I need to work on solo and write the lyrics. I have written few lines, the song is called Terroriser. it's a slow/heavy one. up your alley type speed.
