1957 Fender Princeton (Amp Porn) Completely 100% Original / UNtouched.

It's a pity that the recap couldn't have been done a little more sympathetically using the original Astron sleeves.

I don't take the cardboard sleeves off, and use them to decorate new parts.
If I did I would need to charge money for doing it...
I already charged what I thought was needed to make it work.
I would rather save the old parts for the historical interest, all intact.

But Uncle Doug decorates the new parts with the old cardboard.

I'm not really interested in making new parts look old.
It's a lot of effort, and I'm not really getting anything for it.

With an amp in that condition, I think I'd go the distance, were it mine. I wouldn't stick humburglars and locking tuners on a 54 Strat either... :D

So yesterday we hooked it to a different speaker...
It sounded quite a lot better than the stock speaker.
Sounded more like a mini Marshall, had nice grind.

The conclusion was that the speaker had to be changed. It just sounds too muddy.

The original 6V6 started flashing inside when I cranked it through the external test speaker....
And so I changed the 6V6 to a new one. Used a Sovtek.
