Well boys and girls. There has to be at least one advantage to be a card carrying member of the Old Farts Club. My age puts me in the 1B category which just opened up... in Illinois anyway.... this past Monday.

So I got online and went to Walgreens Covid Vaccination page yesterday. As luck would have it, found a Walgreens close that actually has some spots open for today. I snagged one. The other open spots were gone in minutes. So as of 3:40 this afternoon, I have shot #1 in my arm with #2 scheduled for Feb. 25.

Now waiting to what if any side effects I may get.

Now they have that variant from Africa in the US. They say the covid vaccine is only about 60 percent effective with it...:(
I seen that mess. Pfizer though declared they could modify the current mRNA structure to match some of these new strands within as little as 2 weeks. Whether thats true or not remains to be seen

That would be fantastic, if it's true lets hope it is. Did you see all the people dying in Brazil? Its wild man it's wild. Its brutal this stuff. Way too many people dying around the world.

It's been nice knowing you...:X3:

Something that did piss me off something awful was the hospital ive been working on for the past 2 years, under going a massive remodel, expansion and compliancy now for Covid19 intake, issued out vaccines to every one of the staffers, including janitors and cooks. Everyone except us.

When COVID broke loose there and we tried to shut the project down until the numbers lowered, they threatened to sue every single subcontractor by claiming we were critical and essential to meet the COVID requirements for patient intake. Yet, when they ordered the vaccines, they only ordered it for THEIR workers and not us. We brought the topic up and they literally said " Oh well, we dont have anymore and thats not our problem."

We're supposed to kiss their asses and they literally call themselves "heroes" all the while. We're 3rd class citizens

sadly
"essential" and ....EXPENDABLE .... have in many ways of late become synonymous ...........

No doubt the vaccination is the cause of the variant mutated strains.
When you are vaccinated, you are contagious.
Have you noticed that the mutations appeared as soon as the vaccinations began?
The virus is mutating - as a result of the vaccinations. Then spreading from the vaccinated individuals to others.
It's a sad reality. People who are vaccinated are infected with the virus "from" the vaccination itself.

The more people are vaccinated, the more the virus will spread and mutate.

This reminds me of a science experiment.
A little girl discovered that over time, bacteria become immune to the ingredients of antibacterial soap. The bacteria mutates in response to the soap.
And the same thing will happen with this virus.

Well absolutely. Viruses, despite their microscopic size are quite resilient and intelligent. Influenza and the common cold are two examples of a constant evolving to attack a host. While we have an army of Influenza vaccines that typically contain immunization to as many as 3 predicted strains of the virus each year, sometimes it pulls a quick-switch and renders the vaccine useless ( 2018 had af flu season that made the vaccine only 40% effective that year due to an early shift in the strain that threw off the earlier predictions)

The common cold however, is ever changing and that has made almost any attempt of finding a viable vaccine useless. Its extremely low mortality rate often leads to Scientists ignoring any attempts of combating it but its the most widespread virus in the world today.

Covid on the other hand, got a fullscale global attempt at a widespread vaccine due to its extremely fast rate of transmission and climbing mortality rates. But the slow global rollout of the vaccine allows the virus to shift and adapt, which is why we are where we're at today: if we had created a massive scale vaccination program and waited to release it until we had enough doses to both distribute and manufacture, we wouldve hit the virus in a massive surprise attack and shut down a lot of its capability to adapt and overcome

This was both a failure of government planning, manufacturer's logistics and initial distribution to only 3% of the population. We're gonna have to approach this entirely different now with the new variants
