lol sounds like we dive alike!Water dissipates heat from your body 70% faster than air. (get a wet suit)
When you are divemaster you knowlike that....yes I am divemaster.
Certainly diving in cold water is very dangerous because of hypothermia. That's why there is dry suits.
Now
I have just landed in San Luis Obispo.
Home of Ernie Ball, Music Man, Barf -ollini pickups. Not much diving here.
In Hawaii, the ocean water is 80 degrees F. But I still need a wet suit, due to same information above.
Even at 80 degrees, water will still dissipate heat from the body rapidly and the water will feel cold.
So I use a 3 Mil full suit and gloves / booties.
I used to wait till the water temps in the keys were over 80 before Id dive.....friends made fun of me ..........didnt care --- If it was less than 80 ....I sat on the beach with a beer and waited for them to get back lol
even then I wore a dive skin at least --
possibly due to the previous mentioned dive (which was DECADES ago) but I still can not STAND cold water
