BFT Gibson
Ambassador of Originality
Jet City...woomaan !!...had to do it Queensyche was my fav , saw Mindcrime tour many times in 80's & caught 1&2 in 2006 in Reading & Atlantic city.
Well, it's been a blast & this amp was a piece to fill in. I love recorded JCM 800 tones..(2203) 2203 is much more tight up the dial & has the thump vs the 2204..really evident on the mic. The volume does have to be high tho on the 100's. no prob have an ISO, but these lil buggers been getting lately are such a blast dimed into a 4x12..they hit just right ..all the goods in the circuit become usable.
Was seeking to fill the 2203 hole & found the JCA20HV. Talking with owner, he sorta detuned it..lower value pre's. So it really stays tight up the gain dial & yes it's very loud if need be for cleans. He is a clean tele player..me being the complete opposite wanted the amp for my Gibson's staying super tight for rhythm thump & seriously british blues leads..that edgy Marshall.. It 100% does this. Also the amp had to work with 1960bx cab so could have a Marshall station & cover all my needs in that tone zone...basically hot rod plexi & 800 thump. Pretty wild how the 2204 goes over the JCA for leads on top the base rhythm. This became addictive last few days..then the OR15 it saturates on a dif level for a contrast in the mix.
The JCA.. first plug in. Def Leppard, -High & Dry..just instant with the V with DiMarzio PAF Masters. Very good amp. It is old school not modern gain structure which is what was searching for. MV is very effective..yes it will bedroomcore if needed & retain the main character at low volume Also..Each knob works very well with being usable in all the ranges, where the 2204, run the circuit full on & the knobs really get in the way of the tone..use the 2 channels jumpered for my tone control. Overall, the info was out there in the videos & what was written about the amp is pretty true to it. If you want modern get the 20h or new version 22 or something, but it seems when you add stuff..the vintage always suffers in a way of a simple circuit.
